when Guilliman decided to split all the legions into chapters Dorn almost went to war to preserve his legion. Russ had his back , which is why I chose Space Wolves over Ultramarines.
Someone stop Matt Ward spamming the Ultramarines button. Seriously though, with the massive noob stigma attached to that Chapter, is it really worth spending much dev time on them? They will easily be the weakest link unless (as with other 40k games) players are forced in some way to make use of them.
I'd disagree. I'm fairly knowledgeable with Warhammer 40k lore and I'm what you might call a "good" player of FPS, TPS and RTS games, I don't think that the Ultramarines will have a massive "noob" following and I'll be seriously disappointed if some sort of bias destroys what the Ultramarines could have been in Eternal Crusade.
I don't play table-top, I dislike games that rely purely on dice and a luck, or an unofficial method, cheating. I won't go into it too much but lets just leave it as i really dislike table-top.
I bet you an imaginary £10 that when the game launches both Orks AND Ultramarines are the free-to-play choices Or even just Ultramarines, if development stalls. To be fair, I actually thought it was a great idea at first when GW pushed the smurfs on new players. The blue/white paint is far easier for a child to use properly than red, green or (the horror that is) yellow. They are also a good vanilla choice for beginners. It was only when they were later marketed as the ultimate most bestest awesomest Chapter of all that I started giving my armies banners and vehicle ornaments made out of smurf parts I preferred the Ultramarines back when they were the Chapter that accidentally missed Horus Heresy but fought an awesome battle in their own system against the first Tyranid fleet.
I voted for Blood Angels since they were my fave epic 40k army and the protagonists of Space Hulk. They look a lot prettier than other Chapter marines too if portrayed accurately.
