Arkhona, was the proud Fortress World of Imperium of Mankind under his holy protection. Until the horrible faith descended upon the planet. Billion people murdered by xenos, heretics and devourers. Now the planet is at eternal war, 4 devastating faction threatens mankind. That is all we know whats going on with Eternal Crusade. Concept of the game was great with great anticipation and plans during Early Access. But it's official released version is completely miserable, which is sad. sad but true. Now here is the Huge Issue to Arkhona and it's sector. Games Workshop has been giving their license to companies to create video game based on 40k universe. There are few decent 40k game out there such as DoW series(1-2), space marine and spacehulk. However, some 40k games are poorly licensed and developed. Dawn of war 3, Deathwing(actually this is getting better and keeps going) and you guess, Eternal Crusade. Well Eternal Crusade is constantly losing players due to it's lack of contents and developer's skills. To make matters worse, number of developers were cut down from 20 to 6 due to unpopularity. This decision clearly shows that headquarter of bE consider EC as non profitable game. When bE decides to shut EC down that is it But Arkhona will face the worst cataclysm. As we all know 40k universe is Huuuuge. Although, Games Workshop is selling their license to gain some revenue and possible good influence from good products, Tabletop is their core business. Recently, 40k lore has been drastically changed by fall of cadia, Ynnead and Guilliman's Indomitus Crusade. As a matter of fact, Arkhona is completely unimportant in 40k universe at this state. GW could simply announce"arkhona has been exterminatused by ordo xenos due to many shits going on there" and take away their license back from bE and focus on their core business or find better business partner. Thus, Faith of Arkhona is upon developers hands. Unfortunately, this game is lack of both players and contents(map, cosmetics, etc). Developer still trying to make last cash grabs by discounting their prdocut before it dies. Well they are planning to put workshop so we could put some content to bring this game back to life but it sounds like they are telling "sorry, we are too lazy and made EC horrible but it's not our fault and hey maybe you guys could make this game better here we give u permission to make good stuff so you can play game and we can keep our job without even trying. that benefits us both!". Anyway I hope you enjoy this thread and wish planet arkhona survive from possible Exterminatus.
... Except it had been left un-noticed by the Imperium for hundreds of years ("Blood Price.") ... By the Space Wolves, who claim this planet as a under their protection ("Terra Nullus.") ... Xenos, Heretics, and Devourers didn't kill the population. It was solely the Tyranids (Website, "Unnatural Selection.") But with no Hive Fleet nearby, how did they get here? And why are we only fighting Tyranids on that one continent... And in abandoned or dormant AdMech facilities, no less? ... Sergeant Protus and a garrison of Astartes managed to hold out until Sergeant Castor arrived ("Descent to Arkhona,") so could other pockets of Imperial life still exist somewhere on the planet? ... Where is Inquisitor Demeris Severina ("Black Pearl,") and has/will her obsession with learning about the Dark Angel's plans for Arkhona lead to a dangerous fate for her? There's plenty more we know than what you say, and plenty more ground to still cover before the story of Arkhona is told. And GW's timeline advancing is a completely recent development, man. Maybe you don't remember, but we've been stuck at 999.m41 for close to ten real years before this Dark Imperium nonsense started, and TBH its no big loss if we ignore Dark Imperium. Plenty of story left to play with here. None of this matters to the story of Eternal Crusade. Are you having the same argument fest on the Armageddon Forums? If a Horus Heresy video game came out, would you complain that its not taking the Dark Imperium timeline into account? Of course not. And why? Because those games covered Armageddon at the time of the 3rd war for Armageddon, or the Horus Heresy. This game covers Arkhona in the year 999.m41. Did I miss a book where they referred to Arkhona? If so please point it out to me. Except they didn't. Arkhona is officially a GW-sanctioned world, but the number of worlds in the Imperium "outnumber the stars themselves" and there could be a whole other FPS/TPS in the 40K universe and it would be JUST as official as EC if they went through the right channels. Except that - from day one - the community wanted workshop support. Go back and look at the Q&As. Listen to the Twitches. Even before staff reductions, people have WANTED to contribute in ways more than just monetary to this game, and every time they've been told the game just wasn't equipped for what the community wanted. Except - apparently - Nathan and Noah had been working it out in the background. Nailing down loose ends, Figuring out the back-end changes required. And from all indications they are delivering on the ability to put new stuff into the game. My guess is it will start with assets and cosmetics, but as we all become more comfortable with the process I don't doubt it could/will expand. You are LITERALLY bitching about the fact that the developers are giving the community one of the most-requested and longest running feature requests we've asked/begged for. NOT ONLY THAT, you're calling them lazy for allowing a Workshop so cosmetics and the like can roll in while they focus on the things we CAN'T do, like updating the Guild system, the Garrison, the Vehicles, the Veteran system, Slates, Personal Objectives... All of the back-end shit we can't work on they are now freed up to work on. They tell us they're sitting on a ton of art assets, so what's to stop them from taking in a bunch of curated submissions and the best ones they drop a line and say "hey, how about you switch THESE over for us while we work on the system-side?" Then all of that comes flooding it. I don't see you shitting on XCOM 2 for having a Workshop, or Fallout, Skyrim, etc, and I KNOW Bethesda's MO is to let the modders fix the problems. Again, because its easy to attack when you're willingly remaining ignorant to the larger picture.
I think GW will never even mention Arkhona in their lore, why would they want to write about anything related this the massive failure that is Eternal Crusade? They have already disowned this game.
I am specifically talking about the general backstory about Eternal Crusade. Yes just like you said there are many lore explained during Early Access and developer promised to release more info related to lore around kharon system. But whole lore has been stuck since game officially release. EC development team lost their trust from both bE headquarters and players. you are saying there are plenty story to make but they won't make it because they do not have money. to make matter worse what they have done to this game turns out almost non profitable game. there are not many cosmetic that we can buy to support them nor good content to enjoy and spend money. NONE ! How will u explain about that? And GW main focus is tabletop business and they recently making huge changes to get more attention. Arkhona will never be remention by GW unless they consider its popularity to corelate to their business to bring more players but IT is not Popular we were nearly getting mixed review at steam and now it finally reached mostly negative for the first time. Arkhona is official GW sanctioned world that are located in segmentum obsurcus. It is true but did they really care about planet safety in GW sanctioned world? In 40k universe, blowing up planet is not a big deal and GW can just erase arkhona to make better story. Just like battle fleet gothic armada and dow1-2 even they recently blow up cadia, which we totally didn't expect. We'been asking for workshop for years but they never really listened until now when they completely running out of developers due to massive cut down from bE headquarters. oh and yeah i've been bitching about that literally a year and when i came back after 5 months break still Guild system is still not working, veteran system is still same, we still didn't get vehicle cosmetic for founder SINCE ALPHA( 3 YEARS AGO). yeah they do tell us ton of art assets but its just ton of WORDS we haven't even got 10% from what they been telling to us. No matter how many time they try to persuade us by telling their grand huge picture of plan, words cannot be louder than action. That is the reason why i calling them lazy. The reason why i don't shitting on fallout and skyrim (idon't play xcom so i don't know about dat) is they do have good amount of contents to enjoy for good amount of time. Eternal Crusade However, you don't have personal goal in this game, once u reach lv6 thats it done try another character and reach lv6 and try another another. even pve only reward you requestion point and nearly nobody playing it. Average EC players nowadays are only 200 - 500 that is even lower than before they releasing f2p. Developer used their card F2P to bring more players but it was only temporary because this game have no backbone. If you want me to try to see the larger picture you are making Huge mistake. Eternal crusade does not need larger picture right now all you need to see is what we are actually facing. Stop trying so hard to deny what is totally obvious to see right now. All you and EC need is to fix the problem that game is facing right now. THEN we can see larger picture that you are talking about.
They canonized the Blood Ravens and Eliphas the Inheretor, it's not impossible. They sent McNiel for the background fluff after all, so who knows. Of course between the Great Rift and how things went in game it should be a tale of a Chaos Victory.
The dream will almost certainly never be, but the game is fun and plays as well as most shooters(bad lag patches excluded). People post these doom and gloom things about how this is the worst game ever, but come on, it's mostly just bitterness about how it's not going to be Planetside 40k like we were all hoping. If we'd never expected that I'd surmise that we wouldn't get all this melodrama, cause it's a decent game that just doesn't live up to its hype.
