Faction Specific Units

  1. I've been thinking about this one a lot and I'm really interested in knowing what everyone else thinks about it, which is faction specific units, such as named characters that are not only specific to the races, but also the factions within the races, for example Space Wolves having Frost Fire weapons, and possibly Night Lords having specific armor sets that give you the helmets with the red wings and lightning markings on the armor. What things would you like to see, and are the devs planning to introduce things like this?

    Thunderwolf Cavalry!!!!! I would love to see the faction specific units put into the game. There are so many ways things like these could be put in and balanced well, look forward to seeing what the devs can do with this game :D

  3. Of course there will be faction/sub faction specifics, at launch there probably wont be that many, heroes and maybe some armor, but a few patches later... DUN DUN DUNNN!!!

  5. As much as I'm looking forward to the game coming out, I'm looking more forward to the future patches that add in custom stuff, more weapons and all that good stuff, maybe even see an excuse to add Titans and the likes, although they might be a bit TOO strong

    Considering this is 40k, ideally none of the races have anything in common at all. ;)

    Well, except SM/CSM with their "twisted mirror" relationship.
  7. That's true, but I meant more the specific factions within the races so you'd have to think that little bit harder before finalizing you character :)

    Yes they have already confirmed that every subfaction will be unique in its own ways, from gear and abilities to cosmetics and classes.

    It always bugs me in dungeon crawlers when there are four classes and four races, and there's an obvious Mage race, an obvious Fighter race, etc. The pressure is even greater for a PvP game, so I totally hear you when you say it would be lame if you felt like you had to be a Blood Angel to be an Assault marine. We're going to allow for unique weapons/accessories/statlines for the sub-factions, but we want to do everything we can to make sure they don't create this situation. Having very situation-specific powers is one potentially good solution.

    The plan, of course, is for you guys to be involved in giving us feedback for this once you get your hands on the game!

  9. Thanks that's pretty awesome thanks for that link, I think the sub-faction units would probably just solidify the choice for people who already like a certain faction, I'm just curious to see what other people would like to see :D
