Couldn't they make it so hat once a battle has started, people who had signed on to that character after the battle had started couldn't join?
I think since there is just going to be one server in a large persistant world there will be many battles going on all the time. Plus the individual campaigns which will last a week or so will have many different kinds of objectives so even if you might be losing territory you might end winning an entire campaign by doing these other quests. Right now we know a little about the general structure of the game and dont really know many details. All of this is subject to change before beta opens up.
Is it confirmed that they will last a week? I thought that was still up in the air? And my question remains valid. If you sign on to a character, you can join any existing battles.
Not confirmed but that seems to be the standard atm, "about/around a week". As Sledgehammer said: Beta testing will likely change all this, and the FL. It's just the 'current' design philosophy, they share with us as it changes and we agree not to get butt-hurt by alterations (bahaha lies). Possibly. Depends on the server tech and how the cells and continents themselves handle laws like that. The problem for me is that it might keep people from logging on, in case they get locked out of a battle, so I think any lock has to be on offline players too. I'm not a strick adherent to the FL although I accept them; if they're going to be added then the impact needs to be minimal and the rules kept simple.
I think that what they meant by campaign was just going to be a series of objectives. And because of that Im ok with a weeks worth of objectives to do.
Yeah, that will be kinda fun. With luck, a campain result will affect the storyline, how GW USED to do with their world campaigns.
This is far from common knowledge. Common knowledge is: 4 races + tyranids, 3 basic classes + hero & elite, dungeons with tyranids or B2P with F2Whaagh business model just to name a few. Possibility of buying one faction only belongs to the category: 'Somebody, somewhere said something and never mentioned it again anywhere'. There are many crucial to EC pieces of info that had been strongly confirmed and are repeated very often, at any opportunity possible, buying one faction only definitely doesn't belong here. I'm not saying there is 100% certainty it will never appear again but it can safely be considered a goner for now. Making this a part of anti Fl argument is a low trick and has got nothing to do with the actual state of things. Sorry to disillusion you but a nice try though .
Oh that's awesome. I hope that we get things like Chaos winning a lot of campaigns, and then the world becoming a demon world, while the Imperium and Eldar team up to stop it.
