Look at it this way, if we have war councils and strike teams and such planning supah awsum takticul shite, and there is no faction lock, some knobhead will log onto his character for the opposing team and tipoff the enemy. I extremely hate it when these kinds of things happen, and i really don't want it in EC.. People being tipped off about sieges and such seems to happen a fair bit in WoW regarding attacking cities. It's marginally irritating when half the server appears at Undercity
woot you no like HKs? On a serius note i still find it hard to believe that every average joe will have direct access to the tactical plans of the WC.I was expecting something similar to the Inner circle of the DA .
Pretty much what I'm predicting until we know for sure. Anyone who knows their history (or works in corporate lol) accepts it's rare for all but the upper echelon to have much knowledge beyond their Squad/SF's part in an op. Some people are going to piss and moan about it being "just a game" but meh stick to Space Marine if you like simple games I guess being used as the 'sacrificial lamb' as part of a diversionary tactic won't be too offensive to most players, we do get respawns unlike RL and they'll likely be taking part in the biggest battles in the game. Chaos is lucky, we just run any SF with a majority of Khorne symbols on them into the bloody crucible and they'll probably thank our WC
I would say no to faction lock. It could always be implemented down the road if issues are seen. It's an assumption, but I think you will see Faction/chapter loyalty more often than not with 40K. Instead of imposing more rules and regulations, loyalty to a specific faction or chapter should be rewarded in game. An example would be increased xp gains, cosmetic enhancements, unlocks for weapons/vehicles etc. Rewarding loyalty is far better than trying to regulate what hasn't even happened yet.
Issues will definitely be seen just like in every other multiplayer game, don't see why EC could be different in this aspect. This is an assumption.
I'd rather have it and not need it, than need it and not have it. Faction protection and game balance at the cost of me switching characters on the spot is well worth it imo, still do not see the rationale against it, other than people wanting to switch sides at a moments notice with the impression they will need it to play with their friends (Although most usually main their friends faction, and set "raid" times for such events)
Well i still dont see how can a FL protect you against dedicated trolls/spys/abusers and why should my gameplay/gametime be affected so that you may get the illusion of safety...
I'd like to see it for a full campaign only allowing switches between each one. But if this was the case I'd like some playable demo to see how each faction plays to find my prefered before making a first choice. Would be good for those new to the game or the 40k. I like the whole 40k universe and don't think I'll be able to choose a faction until iv played each one and found the faction that's most fun and matches how I want to play. Even if there isn't a short playable demo of each faction I think I'd be ok having a campaign of each to test them all out first before making a long term commitment
