Faction feelings (UI, Loading screens)

Discussion in 'Ask the Team' started by Veldoran_the_Warlock, Sep 29, 2016.

  1. I want to ask something what has been for a long time on my mind... like if its possible to give factions their specific UI and loading screens :D? Or is it certainity in the future?

(We have mostly music though to give us more feeling and creates atmosphere, maybe more voice acting for some ((really, most Eldar players would die for more voice acting I believe) or more voice commands would be really great)
  2. I vaguely recall that the devs said they are not going to do that because of reasons.
It'd be cool, though. Just imagine - on Eldar side, it'd be all Doritos and Mountain Dew, and when you kill someone, it goes "wow", or 'WOMBO COMBO", or "Smoke weed every day", and dubstep is constantly playing in the background. For Chaos, everything is dark and edgy, and the expanded soundtrack would consist of "Wake me up inside" on a loop. And Ork interface would shoot at you if you're not green enough. Hell, it'd probably shoot you anyway.

For the loading screen: The plan is to display a random beauty shot of the match/map you are about to enter, as well as illustrated faction icons describing who is defender and attacker.

Faction specific UI (like the HUD) is unlikely to come back to the table. We were doing that for a while, but it proved unmanageable in terms of production. So instead we opted for a generic hud, however with faction flavour for certain UI components (shield bar for example).

Sorry to hear that. I hope it will comeback someday, in a long and grimdark future.
  5. I would like a different loading screen, one that is for the map you are loading into. Also have the loading screen display the name of the map as well.
  6. Ah, okay. I understand, for new things it would be horrifying to keep in control. Thanks for answer.
