My usual argument with that is that people really didn't do that at all in the DoW games. They tended to play what they thought was the most powerful or flexible, and Eldar, Tau, Necrons, and Chaos all had a lot of players across all three expansions. People like playing dexterity classes in Dark Souls and third person shooters, too. So I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if a lot of players start with SM and get fed up with the jack-of-all-trades playstyle in an hour, and then switch to Eldar so they can fly grav tanks and play all our ninja classes.
I think the factions will actually be pretty balanced, mostly because I don't think any of the factions will "suck." The only times I've played mmo games with teams and they have been unbalanced is usually do to one team being poorer with racial abilities or just looking terrible. Which I don't think will be a problem in the 40k universe.
The Poll is multiple choice to account for alternates, for those of you that feel that this lowers the accuracy of faction density, keep in mind many here will change their mind about their primary faction before launch, partially offsetting preferential fluctuation.

True. Strangely, the multiple choice structure of the poll has therefore made it more about what people don't want to play, rather than what they do want to play.
I'm just pumped so many people want to play eldar, even as alts or secondary possibilities. I thought we were getting crushed in numbers but we might be able to draw a lot of converts. Orks are reeeeally going to need that pop boost though. But people might consider them more when the dark humor of their gameplay is actually shown.
Idk I think the polls are slightly skewed since most people on the boards have some experience with 40k and a lot of experienced players tend to go to Eldar or SM. Lots of newbies like Orks and Chaos. Perhaps we should have Chaos cultists as a F2P class
