I say it's worth it to eventually have lots of customization. This IP is a game based off collecting and painting models, that's a huge part of the hobby and bE should respect that. MMO's have always had diverse character creation because people tend to spend a lot of time with their characters and want them to look and feel a certain way. I'm not concerned about it going into closed alpha, but down the line, at release it should be addressed.
I'm a huge sucker for good character creators. Even if the gameplay sucks, I can still enjoy a game if it's got great customization tools. That said, EC isn't really the sort of game that lends itself to an extensive character editor. Most people will be wearing helmets all the time anyways, and it's not like space marines/orks are known for their stunningly diverse appearances. Eldar are a different story, but I can't see a ton of development time and money being spent on an aspect that doesn't impact the core gameplay much. I'd be happy with just a couple preset faces and hairstyles (WoW style).
This, I never got space marines not wearing helmets (Looking at you space wolves). Why wear all that protective armor just to get shot in the face.
Im happy with, more gear and armor appearance options vs face options. While Eve did have a robust character customization, it was pretty much worthless, you sit in your ship all the time and IMO that's your character, not the meat bag inside. If I had to choose right now, 10 helmet options with maybe 4 male 4 female preset face types, OR fully customizable faces that you may never see, cause its hiding under a helmet, you know the thing that keeps you from getting shot in the face and dieing instantly, I think ill go with the armor options thanks. That said, Orks really are kinda the proverbial clone, there only difference in appearance is in scars, and shades or coloring you take 100 orks and line them up there would not be that one random Ork with a beard, enless he carved it off a enemy and stapled it to his chin, for them face appearance is defined by battle and time (mostly). Eldar....hell half the time I cant tell if the character is male or female by the face I have to look down for the other equipment that defines male and female, so them having a face option seems like a waste, just have some presets with some shade or makeup differences. Space Marines, LOL I cant wait tell the general populace gets there hands on this game, "only male" is going to spark so many arguments along with orks. That said, space marines are modified humans, as much like Orks the only real difference is war and time, WITH the small adage of chapter, IE: Salamanders being black, and NO im not talking African Decent skin tones, im talking like the Color black, ad at that point ......REALLY any features you put on the face are going to be completely worthless. So in the end I think the real important things, should be in-game, appearance things like Aquillas, iron gobs, banshee masks, & ect, ect, things you wear to the fight and show off your awesome, not hide under armor or wargear. And also how is there so many up votes, when almost no one is posting why they want face costomisation?!?!?!?
I think the face customization from Age of reckoning was good enough to be useful for all the races, and not too complex as to be overkill, so I think something along the lines of that would be pretty good for EC. *Waits furiously for Gold ring Ork teef and Hulk Hogan stached Space marines*
I think you missed the fact that you can toggle your helemt off. Also this isn't EvE, you will be seeing your avatar quite a lot seeing as you will be playing them on screen. If there is hitboxes, they will happen no matter what you wear, helmet or not Angel of Death is coming for you. I think it's strange to want 10 armours and not have equal amount of options, but that's opinion. Don't you think you're tiny bit exaggerating the Eldar looking alike? About the Space Marines I think you're wrong about them not having wide ethnic groups. People are already concerned about the lack of female representations, and rightly so. I'm one that believes in equality. Angry Joe said he wanted this also in a interview and I applaud him. It's not that big of a surprise people want more options for the avatar they are going to spend alot of time with, RP wise I don't expect people to understand (most will). It's not a requirement to comment, but it's there for them to express themselves if they want to. Most have posted however and I would not count 25 everyone.
There should be at least one moderate voting option. Obviously, that would reflect my opinion on the matter.
Deep customization would be cool. Not like Elder Scrolls or Dragon Age deep but along the lines of Destiny brought up earlier in the thread would be nice. I plan to wear a helmet in battles most of the time because Banshee/Warlock helmets so good but there will be social areas for this stuff too. I would also expect to see this stuff when we're far in Beta.
I plan to wear a full helmet 99% of the time and I still want somewhat extensive face customization. This is become it instills a greater sense of ownership with my character, similar to painting a TT army, as the creation process is a sort of bonding experience that gives them the illusion of life. So yes, because it makes the character more real.
