Astartes being THE elite of the Imperium means there aren't many around.
And under the terms that the devs have annouced by far, it's going to be yet another version of Ultramarine game.
With space marines figting chaos space marines.

The game has to have end-game content. Otherwise (looking down PS2) people just get bored fighting the same scenarios in the same places with roughly the same weapons.
And that's basically the definition of "SM fighting CSM 24/7"

If there's nothing to fight for (getting the top gear, position and even TEH ARTIFICIER ARMOUR)
The player would just get bored and quit.
And being a 40k project, I truly hope it to live long and prosper, not burn out in a year time, hardly exiting open beta.

    Err, no.

I don't know where you got the impression from that this is going to be a copy of Space Marine, nor do i know why you are focused on Space Marines fighting Chaos Space Marines as the only enemy.

Here's a quick comparison of games similar to this one.

Eternal Crusade has end-game content from the start, to capture a planet, Did you ever play Planetside 1 before they added the OP mechs? People found that fun because the mechanics were good, and the game itself had love and care put into it and as a result, people played it for 3 - 4 years, Planetside 2 was pushed out the door by devs that didn't care and just wanted money from people who would spend money on a F2P game, which turned into borderline P2W.

You don't need end-game content as long as the gameplay is fun, the map design is good/awesome and the mechanics work well to keep the game entertaining, as long as players feel like they accomplish something when they take over a base, or capture the entire continent at the end of the conflict, the game has done it's job well.

EDIT: Fix'd a few typing errors.

  3. Two things

    1. There is no subscription, you just have to BUY the game to unlock every other class. It's not like you have to pay monthly to be able to play the other classes you just have to make a once time purchase like any other video game. Orks being F2P are absolutely fine and it makes sense in terms of the fluff and adds a lot of the overall feel of the game world.

    2. They're rolling out new planets after each successful conquest so it probably won't be "same environments over and over" like Planetside.

Didnt they said you will have to pay to unlock wathever race you want to play? i dont recall them saying that all races can be purchased in a pack
  5. No its optional to buy races with microtransactions or you can just buy everything for $60

It all depends of price. If ability to teabag enemy corpse shall be more expensive, than AAA class game, this shall be a bit too much. And, btw, it all may end in constant necessity to buy new wargear to keep the pace.

  9. As stated before micro transactions or just purchase the full game.

    Which is entirely reasonable.

Not many would enjoy running the same old earth with the same bolter for a couple months.
That's why many quit the PS2. Standstill in gameplay. Nothing to reach out for.

Yeah, the gameplay might be good. But we'll have to live to see if it would be so.
    But who knows...
I played PS1 for half a year before the mechs were introduced.
I liked it. But then study kicked in and mechs kicked the fun out.
Still, the game feels incomplete if every bit of awesomeness is available head-on.

You want to get a heavy weapon? Play a bit, show tht you can kill with a bolter.
Want to rip and tear with a power sword? First show that you can wield a chainblade first and so on.
Gamer needs motivation to play and even better motivation to play well.
Having access to all the goodies from start on takes that away.
