But Shadow Spectres aren't "heavy gunners", they're AV snipers. They get one weapon, a Prism Rifle, with Exarch variants being longer range(Prism Blaster) and purely AV(Haywire Launcher). Dark Reapers are effective against infantry and light armor, Shadow Spectres are effective against armor and maybe against enemy "snipers"(anyone that's too "focused" to move away after getting shot). They get no AoE weapons and no suppression capabilities, all they do is: fly to a safe firing spot, blow up a tank or two, get shot down because jet-packs don't work when you're under fire for some reason.
I don't care much for Shadow Spectres, because they were introduced after my formative years and are therefore bad. I do want to see an Elite class for Eldar which is an Autarch which has a high-ish loadout cap (maybe 1800-2000) and can take whatever wargear it likes from any class. That would be ridiculously badass.
You honestly want to see me with a stealthing DA that can fly, wield a Diresword, cast Embolden, scream at people, and carry Meltabombs? I can hear it now. "Carry us Dominov, you're worth half the team in points!" I want the gear. Don't want that responsibility rofl. I've tasted that nectar: (this is a glitch from Alpha btw... It's not an Autarch lol).
As op mentioned, theyre supposed to work together, so they definitely can NOT be an elite class. They're longranged antivehicle.And unlike most ground troops, being a flying unit means they could actually get the long lines of sight to make lascannon-style weapons viable.
"Elite class" =/= Autarch Exarchs and Rangers are elites. Wraithguard are Terminators. Autarchs and Farseers are Heroes. It IS ridiculously badass, which is why it's not an easily accessible elite class.
Aye, I didn't mean specifically as the designation 'Elite' in this game, more in the general sense of a class which is rarer or harder to unlock.
From my experiences as a Swooping Hawk armed with the dreaded Red Knife of Doom, the only thing I would add is a fusion gun in place of the crappy flashlight. That is true terror.
