The cannon at this point is that basic Necron Warriors (the staple of the Necron army and society) were/are slaves/drones in their real lives so that translated rather harshly to their robotic lives. There is a control chip in the lower castes of Necron units that drives any/all independent thought. The control chip is progressively eased as they get higher in social status. Necron Lords have a fairly maximized cognitive ability, while the Overlords are at the peak. I think the easier way to think of it is that the lower castes went into the Soul Furnaces and got some run-of-the-mill massproduced body while the highest castes got special treatment and received metal bodies cast for better purpose.
Wasn't that Obediance Protocol deactivated by the silent king, shortly before he left? http://wh40k.lexicanum.com/wiki/Szarekh Dunno how much you can trust the Lexicanum of course, but afaik that's indeed cannon?
So if I'm talking to a person who has a shadow of their personality, and I knew them when they still had their full personality, how would I tell the difference?
No, that's it. It's from the 5th edition, from my memory. It's in the citation as well for the 5th edition codex. He just destroyed the protocal that allowed him (and, by extention, the C'tan) control over the Necrons. The lower caste of guys still got the shit end of the stick in terms of the bodies they got. I believe it was that a HUGE portion of the Necrontyr race were damaged in stasis as well. But I'll have to find some citation for that. A lot of the issue is it gets mixed up between old/new lore, so a lot is tangled. Don't you have a personal life to contemplate things that have no reasonable merit or use outside of your mind?
Hm... put it that way, and you may even be true. Im no necron expert, only thing i know are feed to me by the lexicanum
Probably. The OP was wondering how it was possible that every faction lost the campaign though. Not exactly a lot of room for discussion. I'll explain with math. This is the percentage for success needed to win the campaign: 100% Each of the 4 factions got less than that.
Maybe, but I always like explaining Necron lore. It's pretty straight forward, just not usually talked about much. And when it is, people usually confuse old lore with new lore and some random spin off that is barely related to the two because they got the two mixed up.
