I recall a conversation Miguel had with an interviewer about how he considered roleplay important to EC. IIRC, he said 100 Ork players yelling "WAAAAAAGH!" as they charged an enemy line is roleplay, and important roleplay. He said you're doing RP just by being in the battle with your friends, and that they would structure the game around that. At the same time, he said for more PvE-centric people, they are building the underground tunnels where the Tyranids lurk to ensure that everyone will be able to contribute to the war, no matter how they want to do it.
I certainly hope there will be support for roleplaying in this game. I certainly enjoyed my time roleplaying on Ravenholdt in World of Warcraft. That being said, I shall be roleplaying my ass off as a proper Space Wolf, regardless if there's roleplay support or not.
This would be cool as a customzation tool if they decide to do an on-ship area before you decend to the battle field. Move about the Battle barge or the like and be able to go to the armoury or your personal "cell/room" where you can make small personalzations to your equipment. Should you be able to go the the mess hall and have some protein paste with your brothers? Prob not. Allows for you to retire or "rotate" off the battlefield and do somthings that say a NPC Techmarine couldnt do in a captured town. Make the planet all about War, and the Ship about preperation/customization.
As long as safezones/RP/PvE zones or servers are completely out of the question then sure by all means support the RP community 100%.
You do realize they've been talking about PvE-only zones from day one, yes? That's the underground tunnels that the 'Nids all live in.
Well unless you think Love can Bloom on a Battlefield, there isn't going to be much interaction between the factions other than, "DIE HERETIC!", "FOR THE DARK GODS!", "ORKS! ORKS! ORKS! WEZ DAH BEST!" and "ELDAR WARCRY!"
