Touché stinky . Good question though. Does anyone else think this is a pretty massive 'get' for SE ? lucky bastards. It's a gigantic Western IP.
I have been thinking on this quite a bit. I have considered how easily it is to sell video games around the world using digital downloads. I am pretty certain that Square Enix is now a financial partner in Eternal Crusade. And if this really is another large cash infusion into the development and advertising for EC then this might actually be pretty incredible news.
Considering the state he's in right now, it'll probably be screams of BLOOD FOR THE BLOOD GOD and SKULLS FOR THE SKULL THRONE.
Even so, I'm pretty sure he will simply fob us with "wait till next week, lol". Unless its about the Founder's Pack. That's a different matter all together.
WE'RE ALL GONNA DIE! Sorry had to get that in before some other reasonable explanations came in by the community. Or the Developers come in and be all "Children calm yourselves and browse this concept art.". But honestly this brings up the question if they have changed their minds of going completely digital anymore. If they get the Xbox and Playstation deal they want, I would imagine a big MMO title would need/want a physical copy. If they do a physical copy it would make sense to have a big publisher.
Dear Crusaders, I will not comment on this for obvious reason but let me reassure you for those who have certain worry. I think the team and I has proven over time that we mean it when we say: BeTrue, BeFair, BeTransparent. That means that if/when we announce our publisher NOTHING will change in the way we interact with you. The publisher we will choose will work with us in a FULL partnership. Our future publisher, when found, will be in charge of Acquisition, BHVR will take car of Rentention (the game) and we will both work hand in handin Monetisation. I have the exact same approach when I was meeting in the past year with over 12 differents publishers: Telling them before we even pitch your game to them: 1-We want a partnership on equal footing 2-We want NO marketing firewall between devs and fans and that includes the Publisher team 3-We want BHVR to keep authority in the game design and our Publisher in Acquisition of players, marketing and sales. 4-We want to keep players involved in making Eternal Crusade So rest assure that I keep true to Eternal Crusade and if/when we announce a Publisher it will be a joyous day since the project will get the ressources it derserv to spread its Light all over the world. Including the impact of having a Big Brother with us when we start looking at having Eternal Crusade on Next Gen Console. So trust in us as much as we trust in you. Miguel
