Whilst I fully understand the position Saros is coming from and I feel it is important to be proud and happy with the portrayal of your guild and for it to not only have some recognizable presence on the battlefield but to also churn a 'special' relation with other guilds my fear is this will effect Eternal Crusade negatively like many games before it. It's not just E-Sport games that have run into this issue, infact the issue has been existant for quite some time but with the emergence of more and more popular gaming channels on Youtube, Twitch and social media the problem that I described has become more frequent and more frustratingly annoying not only for streamers, vloggers etc but also for those players who focus on the game. Imagine spawning in and seeing your team go on the hunt for Angry Joe whilst a small amount of you remain to take objectives or strive to win, or every single fighter chasing the Mighty Jingles in a Warthunder battle. From games such as Warthunder, World Of Tanks, Heros and Generals and Planetside to even games such as Dawn Of War, Mount and Blade and Arma, it doesn't matter what category the game or what platform it is played on this problem exists no matter how the community conducts itself or how frowned upon it is. If there is no name above the enemie's head then there is no fear that the masses of your team will prioritize and 'chase' them
Well well... Brent Ellison@pulsemeat @GC_Troma Sorry mate, it's not something shooters do and for good reason. There will be more immersive ways to recognize ppl in the field. https://twitter.com/pulsemeat/status/720583945730056192 Urg. Like Nessou posted, even CS or Planetside 2 display name on aim...
I don't see a point in displaying names in battle. Who needs it? Why? We want people to play the objectives, not some stupid vengeance game. If you were hurt by someone, well remember his horns, shoulderplates etc. It will work as soon as we get customisation available. Displaying names will be abused one way or another, either to give advantage in spotting or to troll famous players.
It's not about vengeance. Read all posts and arguments, especially Saros and Wothan's. http://forum.eternalcrusade.com/threads/enemies-nameplate-will-be-disabled.53547/page-8#post-1078935 http://forum.eternalcrusade.com/threads/enemies-nameplate-will-be-disabled.53547/page-7#post-1078882
I did. But it is still about vengeance. You have your Tab button. You have a name displayed upon death. That is more than enough. I must admit that any togglebl option is a good thing, but why direct resources at implementing it in first place? And it is just my view. I respect that you can have yours.
In @BrentEllison I trust. "There will be more immersive ways to recognize ppl in the field." He said there would be a way to still recognize them, just different. I will take this as small victory. The Power of compromising :-D This Kitty Farseer is happy
