Endgame - Cosmetics/titles/emote Unlocks?

I'm aware that many have no interest in such things, but I am certain I am not alone in that I find cosmetics/titles/emotes appealing. More specifically, ones that must be "earned". Cosmetics/titles/emotes that are difficult to obtain, but carry prestige & meaning behind them.

    For example:

Kill 5000 space marines & unlock space marine helmet on spike that can be worn as a cosmetic etc.

Why should such goals/achievements exist? It gives players something to work towards. It gives players incentives to try new things they may not have done otherwise. It reduces battle fatigue & instead of mindlessly killing tens of thousands of players "just cause" you now have short terms goals.

I enjoy a good stompin as much as the next person, but after a while if there is nothing to work towards, everything because monotonous. You feel like you are repeating the same battles/actions that you had the day before. Planetside 2 is a great example. Once you hit BR100, there is nothing to work towards. Sure, you can improve your individual skill. In a battle of thousands however, no matter how potent 1 individual is in combat, he/she alone can not win the war. There also comes a point where your battle prowess will plateau & you will become so far removed from your average opponent that minus a handful of adversaries on the entire server, there is no challenge or opposition. Largely leaving most conflicts stagnant/boring.

I hope that BEhaviour considers adding such goals into Eternal Crusade. While cosmetic purchases would net them a small amount of revenue in the short term, creating a rich & rewarding endgame will keep players playing longer & give them goals to work towards.

  2. I would go so far to say that they need Tiers of goals. By that I mean you have several Tiers of Goal Types that are increasingly difficult to obtain. You can reset the Tier goals once you max them to earn a new progression level like the prestige system in CoD

    Example:
Tier 1: Goals such as Headshots, Faction kills, Vehicle kills, Capture Assists, Ect...

Tier 2: Goals such as Accomplishing Strike Force orders, Killing Higher Ranked Players, Killing Epic Tyranids, ect...

Tier 3: Leading the Strike Force successfully, Leading Epic Tyranid Raids, Heroic Accomplishments(Truly Epic deeds where you survived against impossible odds)

Accomplishing the goals will grant access to Faction Specific Battle honors that unlock wardrobe/wargear/visuals ect...

You must absolutely love the guild wars series then

On another note wouldn't this subtracts from the overall campaign and put a focus on the individual?
People would rambo mode just to get dem achievements
  4. I played Guild Wars 1 for 15 minutes... saw all the dancing whores... looked at my kids behind me watching and then unistalled the game.

I'm not sure if we need "end game", we will have objectives in the campaigns and we can try do deny objectives to other factions... it's not just farm like PS2, we will have goals and also 2 different pve modes (if i remember correctly Steve talked about a horde mode, in the twicth ama)

I agree with the idea of cosmetics or some type of "unlockable", it gives players something to work towards. In EC cosmetics could vary from armor pieces, a trophy from a battle or badges of honor to show a player's progression. :D

  7. Yea I would love for there to be goals and what not for all the different types of players. Solo players, team players, hardcore. But all the esthetic stuff was kind of mentioned with leveling up your gear or unlocking it. I feel that would kind of work in the same manner but not to the extent you are talking about.

end game and personal acheivments make for something fun for the player to break away from the monotomy of "killed him killed him killed him, oh hes new, hes dead, killed him" and not getting anything in return for it.

also with end game content (possibly a pve set up like a solo instance, or the grizzled old general gives his speach and then pins an award on your chest.) it gives you something to run for once youve been over the planet and you killed every one and completed every mission. dont get me wrong i understand its warhammer and war is endless but every battle has an end. so once the planet is won (for your chosen faction) something special happens to you and so forth

Just a thought: they could have two types of achievements, one sort you obtain by yourself, which are pretty cool, and the ones you achieve while in squad/yeam which are even cooler.
That way you have an incentive to guide people to play as a team.
  10. I definitely think this should be a part of the game. I too look for such rewards in game, because im not always on the scoring top 3, and need unlocks to grind towards. Besides I think its already proven that cosmetic unlocks, besides just coloring gear, are highly valued by most players. Good post, I hope the people up top get the message! =)
