Tyler was surprised with how natural this combat came to him. True, he was military, he had experienced war, but nothing like this. He never used swords much before, and here he was slicing and dicing these giant mantises like they were chaff before the scythe. This incubator sure knew how to make an Astartes. @BuriasDempsey @GobMaw_HellSmasha "The beasts are faltering, keep pushing them back! Crush them like the insects they are! ... Uh, sorry Jack." The assault group seemed to be doing well, although he stumbled when he felt a talon tear into his leg, and he grimaced through the pain. He was still fully mobile however, Astartes weren't that easy to slow down. He turned around to skewer the creature that attacked him, before launching himself into what was left of the horde, a bit concerned when he hear they were on a time schedule. @Uriel1339 "Hey, your the Eldar, can't you see where we're supposed to go?"
@Keidivh @GobMaw_HellSmasha Jack bit and claw and squirmed at his captor, unable to gain any leverage or do damage to get himself free from the mantis that captured him. He should have remembered how good and quick the reflexes of the predatory insect was on earth, no doubt not being any different for this alien variety. "Helpme! He'sgonnasquishme!"" he yelp for help while still trying to scratch back at the thing holding him, feeling his entire chest in pain from the pressure.
Rob kept to his perch, pouring the pulse fire into the few remaining insectoids. "No clue! We were hoping you could tell us!"
@BuriasDempsey Tyler was rather taken aback when he heard Jacks call for help, part of him had kind of forgotten they were in a real combat situation. It was all so... Fantastical. But this wasn't fantasy, this was his new reality. And he wasn't about to let his friend be smushed like a bug ... By a bug. "I have you brother!" He bellowed as he smashed himself into the Mantis, chainswords roaring in rage at the threat it presented to his friend.
Rico rubbed his head after the impact thinking about how he should really learn to pay better attention to his surroundings when flying. He then noticed the rather large and hungry looking mantis coming towards him at an alarming rate. He quickly scrambled to his feet and jumped at the creature letting his own instincts take over he started to rip and tear into the creatur's body with his claws until the body went limp.
@BuriasDempsey Hearing Jack cry out for help brought Gerald back to his senses some what. He wasn't the only one in this fight, his friends were too. And this wasn't a game this time around, the danger was real. All too real. And right now he had a mantis trying to break one of them in two. Gerald made a mad dash to assist, but Tyler was a little faster on the up keep due to Gerald having a dead mantis clinging to him by it's arm that was lodged into his own arm. He was about halfway to jack when he realized just how slow he was moving due to the added weight by the mantis corpse. He stopped himself to cleave the thing's arm off before continuing to trudge on. "I'z gotcha! I'z gotcha!" he shouted, Shootah unleashing Dakka at the mantises coming in to flank Tyler before using one of the mantis bodies to jump off of and leapt into the air toward the overgrown insect. Gerald brought his entire weight as well as the Choppa down on the charging mantis and began hacking away at the thing.
Diverting his attention from the shooting to the unexpected sight of the pheonix lord singling him out over everyone else William was a little unsure what to say at first having previously concentrated his attention on the conflict in front of him. In response to his question all William could do was simply shrug as he remembered he still had absolutely no idea where he was. 'It beats me I don't know the way out of here, I don't think I even know where we are myself and I've only been here a short while. I figure that if we work our way upwards we might have a decent chance of reaching daylight, its pretty much the only logical conclusion I can draw from this situation.' Looking back towards the few remaining mantises William was glad there were only a few of them left, if they didn't retreat then the only course of action was to exterminate them all one by one until they do. Keeping as calm as he could manage William continued picking out targets choosing to prioritize the ones closest to his allies and keeping the stragglers on a low interest, clenching his teeth he remained standing so as to be ready to back off if he needed to but at the same time he was almost completely focused on aiming. William continued firing until he heard the distinctive click click sound of his boltgun running out of ammo just as he lined up a shot on a mantis head, ejecting the empty cartridge and then reaching for a fresh one from his belt he let the spent casing fall with an audible clatter on the stone he was standing on. Ramming the new clip home with a phenomenal sleight of hand he didn't really expect of himself he loaded the new cartridge and cocked the weapon before bringing it back to bear on the mantis he had previously misfired upon. *BLAM* *BLAM* *BLAM* *BLAM*
With some adrenaline flowing through her from having the pain of the armour hurt her a bit, Alicia found her aim wasn't that bad at all, and feeling worryingly satisfied from seeing the result of a Splinter Rifle on the Mantises that fell victim to her weapon, like it was invigorating to see death and pain. With the human of the team dealing with the VIP that they were meant to be get out of here, she turned her aim towards those the bugs that were still alive... Namely the stupid bug that was attacking Jack, because there was no way in hell that she'd just leave him to suffer from being crushed by another bug. The irony that Jack was currently another insectoid form of life wasn't lost on her.
As if the battle was more than trivial, Iryllith watched as he talked to the Human. "The shortest path is not always the fastest... Also, quite a primitive weapon you got there. Reloading with cartridges?" He shrugged somewhat. "Also how come that there is a Comorrite, an Ork, a Nerontyr and whatever those other guys are joined you? Or well... Whomever of you is actually the leader. But far more interesting, how did you know where to find me?" Obviously the future Mymearan war hero had quite some questions. Jack was freed with little effort due to the multiple individuals aiding him. The Mantis that held him was thrown to the ground by the Ork, the others that tried to pick Gerald or Jack apart were either shot or sliced by all sort of varying weaponry. Seeing nobody seemed to help George the Necron, Iryllith aimed with his massive sniper-like tank hunter prism rifle one-handed, blasting the Mantis apart with a charged shot. The last Mantis to die was the one who bit Rico the fury into the neck but did not draw any blood, instead the daemon-child leaked warp stuff. Apparently it was not very delicious as the Mantis backed off, only to get a claw into the abdomen and die as it was some sort of weak spot, or the Daemon was stronger than he thought, and ripped some vital organs apart. Fighting came to an end, and the group was only slightly injured in comparison to what could have happened, especially when one was to look at Jack and his slightly deformed chitin carapace. Now it was to figure out which way to go. They could either go back upstairs where the group came from, looking for a way up there now without the urgency of the tunnels. Or they would move in the direction the violet Mantises came from. It appeared there was no other tunnel in the room. Jack was dropped unceremoniously unto the floor after his friends where able to put down the mantis that had him. "Ow. I'mfreeI'mfreeI'mfree!" he said as he got up, a little less enthusiastic than before after receiving a rather painful reminder to not underestimate any opponent despite what form he has taken. He looked at his back and saw the massive indentations in his carapace. Looking back to his friends, he opened his arms like he was going to hug them. "Thankyouthankyouthankyou!" He said to everyone that helped him. He actually didn't quiet expect so many of them to come to his aid and so quickly as well. It touched his heart, the organ that was rather enlarged and belong to a Tryanid, but it was touched all the same. With the fight over, Jack gaunt looked around and just shrugged. His sense of direction wasn't strong when he was human and it hadn't change now.
