Having saved Gerald from suffering a tumble down the stairs and quite possibly from having to miss out on the fighting, Alica semi-sarcastically replied "You're welcome Greenskin!" to the Ork. While she'd admit to being slightly worried by the way her friend's arm underwent a spasm like he was forcing himself to not punch her, she hoped that it was just something that could be brushed under the carpet or at least something that was explainable to her after this was over. Likewise, she'd file the insult under having to deal with him being an Ork for the moment. Then the human of the group gave the reasonable suggestion that the Ork went in front, to which the pretend Commorite replied "Well, makes sense for our current melee expert to take the front, doesn't it? We'll be right behind ya." Seranos shouldered her rifle, the tender feeling that her body had from the armour wasn't so bad now she was getting used to it. She then carried on heading downstairs, keeping her eyes pealed for the bugs that they'd likely meet on the way down and likely have to give a little taste of death.
"It seems my fame precedes me!" Iryllith yelled over in excitement as the strangers recognized him. Another bright blue lance emit through the caverns, killing another two. One Mantis-alien managed to sprint through and leap forwards. But the Phoenix Lord was little worried as he turned his Prism Rifle 180 degrees and swung the weapon with the attached blade on the tip upwards, cutting the leaping insectoid in half. Before even the corpse reached the ground, the Phoenix Lord leaped up and hovered high, aiming with the weapon once more, now more precise with having ground support. "Scream like the banshees of Jain Zar! Hack like the Dire Avengers of Asuryan! Eliminate these primal beasts so we may escape this tomb together!" He roared as the vigilant leader he was. So far he apparently had not the time taken to see who saved him. @MetalDog4 & @Valonox Taking the spirit of the Dark Reapers, the Blue hooved man, from a species that was yet to be born, and the Necron Warrior, ironic nemesis of the Phoenix Lord's species. The sophisticated technology of both warriors made short process with the Mantis scythe swingers. The Firewarrior's plasma fire removed a scythe from a torso and a leg of the same creature. The Necron shot a single gauss-shot with superior aim, turning a Mantis immediately into a pile of ashes from the mighty disintegrator he was armed with. @TuskatheDaemonKilla Taking the spirit of the Swooping Hawks, the Fury Daemon flew right above the heads of the Mantis crowd. One tried to reach up and slice the flyer in half. However, the daemon's reflexes were superior and he did not just evade, but also 'casually' ripped the head of the creature with his foot-claws off. @BuriasDempsey & @Keidivh Taking spirit of the Howling Banshees, the Assault Marine and a very very adrenaline-filled creature that was not supposed to exist yet, rushed into melee combat with all of their speed. Coming completely in from the flank, the dynamic duo started to hack the slightly surprised Mantises apart. With chainswords, talons and teeth they were ready to fight their first fight. Though it could get quite rough, given the Mantises compared size and muscle wise to even the Astartes. @GobMaw_HellSmasha & @Maleth & @Donairian The trio from the staircase just joined the battle at the very edge, coming out closer to Iryllith than the others were. They just came to se the battle started without them. But there were still plenty of Mantises to be killed. Glad to have encountered no resistance on the stairs and equally happy to have found out that the winding stone carved steps had led right to where he had hoped they would go William now trailing behind Gerald came into visual view of the battle. Examining the situation briefly William felt slightly overwhelmed by what was in front of him, seeing the carnage of battle for the first time was not exactly welcoming, in fact it felt more intimidating than most anything else. Shaking his mind of his doubts he realized he and his two comrades had managed to outflank the mantises somehow giving them a significant advantage, keen to make the most of this fact William shouted to his two teammates. 'Enemies spotted and viable targets are in range, looks like our target is still alive. Gerald, Alicia pick your targets and start picking off bugmen, drive them back into their tunnels. Don't give them a chance to regroup, break their will to fight!' Lifting his boltgun so that he could look down the iron sights William started picking off Mantises with successive bursts of fire, doing what he could to aim for the head where possible, his current objective in mind was to ease pressure off the rest of the group by slowly neutralizing enemy forces one by one. He was silently cursing the fact that this was still one of his only two of his only options to deal with enemies at this early stage, he felt restricted by only having his boltgun as a means of ranged attack, it was tactically inflexible and William somehow knew it.
The SuperHormagaunt that was Jack was in the midst of the alien mantises, a little whirlwind of grey chitin and claws in a shiny blue carpet of angry insects. Jumping onto the back of one to avoid its claws, embedding his own through its back to anchor on as he wrapped his jaws around its head and crushed it. Its blood dripped between his serrated teeth, his heart beat unnaturally fast, and the instincts of his mind drove him top keep assailing his prey, no more thoughts just kill and devour. Another mantis tried to rake its clawed limbs on jack's carapace covered back, only earning his murderous attention. Jabbing a claw through its compound eye and into its skull for its actions, it slumped down as he pulled the claw out to start carving into another mantis. In its dying throes it swung one of its limbs into Jacks unprotected side, getting a high pitch screech of pain from him as the offender died from most of its vital fluids being outside of it. He continue to carve into the mantises with his scything talons, a mix of Tyranid adrenaline and beastial mindset driving him.
"Wiff pleazure" Gerald replied, grinning and chuckling as he drew both his Choppa and Shootah, "Time ta get stuck in boyz!" With Choppah and Shootah in hand Gerald lept into the fray bellowing out a mighty fine "WAAAAAAAGH!" almost as if such a shout was ingrained instinctually into his brain. Shootah Dakkaing foes in front of him - though with the horrible accuracy of the thing he was only able to graze a few -till he closed enough distance between him and the overgrown mantises to start swinging his Choppa, managing to bisect one of the mantises and cleaving another in half. A mantis went for his Choppin arm and slashed into his green flesh with its scythe like arms. To Gerald's surprise, it didn't hurt nearly as much as he'd thought it should. He chalked it up to the stupid amounts of durability Orks naturally possessed and Dakka'd the mantis with his Shootah in return, crushing the things head under foot as it collapsed in front of him. Gerald became a veritable whirlwind of Choppin and Shootin, using everything this Ork body could muster to drive off the hoard of bugs and keep that bay. He got so caught up with the fight that he completely ignored the Eldar they were supposedly here to save. In a fight was where Orks thrived, and his Ork side was having a blast. His human side however, a bit more concerned on how everyone was holding up, hoping no one was going to do anything ludicrously stupid and foolhardy -as he'd probably end up doing something of the likes himself. Though with his Ork side experiencing the fight, such thoughts didn't seem to bother him any as he laughed in sheer amusement of it all.
"Haha! Suck it you insectoid cretins! Er...no offense Jake." Realizing that his weapon was more precision based than the others, he began to aim for the legs of the onrushing creatures, hoping to slow them down so the rest of his team could take them out easier.
"I guess this is going to get messy." Rico said as he let go of the head and flapped his wings to gain altitude and turned around to take a dive at the horde again. He had seen birds of prey dive bomb prey in movies and documentaries so he figured he should give it a try now that he had seen that he could easily rip off these insect's heads as one would do to a normal sized bug the only difference is that these ones can fight back. He came in as fast as he could manage with the limited space and his lack of experience and presented his clawed hands and feet prepared to take what ever they touched as he came within striking distance. He spotted one that had been disabled by the fire warrior and grabbed a hold of it's head with his hands and as easily as the first one it's head was ripped off making the rest of the body go limp. He flapped his wings powerfully and quickly to regain altitude as he threw the head back to the ground. He would repeat this process as many times as he could dodging the accessional stray fire and mantis attempting to bring him to the ground.
"Gotcha." Alicia replied to the team's Acolyte, before turning her aim on the Mantises that were not in the direction of anyone that wasn't busy in melee with the bugs(not trusting her aim to be good enough to avoid hitting her friends), kneeling down to hopefully have a little more accuracy when shooting. After all if it worked in FPSs, why shouldn't the same principle have any problems working in this scenario? With a tug of the trigger Seranos starting shooting at the bugs that were not Jack, with her relative inexperience with a gun meaning that she was a touch more busy getting used to just shooting the rifle rather than hoping to hit anything in particular.
@Valonox The Necron Warrior, moving as slow as any of his kind got jumped at by one of the Mantis Warriors before he could raise his Gauss Rifle, getting thrown to the ground again and pinned down, the scythes hammering down on his massively armored shoulders. Though they did little more than scratching the ancient warrior, the Necron was basically immobilized with the four legs of the massive creature pressing down arms and legs of the metallic skeleton. @MetalDog4 & @Maleth & @Donairian The three shooters of the team took the distanced Mantis Warriors who were not in melee systematically apart. Robert, the Tau, shot legs apart and crippled the insectoids left and right, causing them to land face-flat on the ground to be picked apart by the rest of the crew. Alicia, the Kaballite had still to get used to the pain of the flesh hook, pulling on her flesh as she went down to a knee. But with the pain came adrenaline, and with adrenaline came increased focus. With precision shots the deadly crystal shards landed in the torso of two Mantises, the poison spreading immediately through their body, forcing them to turn green and die within a minute's span as they collapsed and screeched in pain, having seizures, flapping on the ground until their brain gave away and they finally did rest in peace. Comorrite weapons were cruel. William the Acolyte did take out three mantises with his Bolter-salvos. The projectiles easily piercing the carapace, detonating within and splashing their innards all across the floor along with sprays of blood. @GobMaw_HellSmasha & @BuriasDempsey & @Keidivh The melee squad of the team went full-frontal and brutal on the enemy. Scythes, legs and heads flying all over the place as Chainsword, Talon and Choppa hacked away at the purple aliens. Especially Tyler, the teal Space Marine excelled as he blocked one mantis with his chainsword - both talons at once, and sliced it horizontally in half with his other. Then with both blades, overhead, penetrating the defense of another and grinding the head open, splashing brain matter all over his helmet. He was rewarded with a sharp leg-talon piercing right into a weak spot of his left leg, drawing blood. Gerald the big Ork had no finesse whatsoever but raw strength, endurance and vigor. A scythe came down and tried to cut his arm in half, but there was so much muscle and bone that it was only a very painful experience rather than an arm loss. Immediately the pain was avenged with a choppa to the ugly Mantis head, splitting it in half, the scythe-arm still clinging to his arm. Then there was Jack, the little hormagaunt, who went stabby-bite-slice on everyone. His luck was counted when he leaped on a Mantis that caught him with a scythe in the center, unable to move or kill. He was in the mercy of the alien which tried to crack him like a lobster but the carapace proved itself to hard, the pressure nonetheless was very, very painful. @TuskatheDaemonKilla The bird-tactic worked out just fine for Rico the Red Fury. Here went a head flying, there went one flying. However when he escaped one deadly scythe attack, he crushed instead flying too fast against a wall, falling to the ground, due to the collision. The actual-born daemon found himself with the back against a wall and a furious purple insect in front of him, screeching in excitement. @all Iryllith fired his last shot - killing two Mantises once again, before descending near the human, William. Starting to realize the awkward group constellation. "Well. Either Cegorach is enjoying my dilemma and this is the wonderful beginning of a very funny joke. Or... I went crazy. Either way, I am glad you have came to my... Aid. Now, you do not happen to know which way the exit is, do you? There is roughly only half a cycle left until the rest of my delegation leave, and I would rather prefer to join them. So let us wrap this skirmish up and get moving." As Iryllith relaxed from the combat, watching how his 'rescue team' did, there were six Mantises left.
