Elite deployment in a match and elite "mark for death" symbol

As a new player, I was excited to unlock that elite advancment but it sounds like a huge let down with how this class upgrade actually works.

I've only seen a few "deathmarks" running around so far that I always just assumed that player was on a kill streak.

Agree. I'm also disapointed and see no point fielding vet atm. It would make more sense for teammates to protect veteran because of buff.

All depends on the class and wargear. Some are prone to getting gunned down more easily than others. I can have a rough game as a Teeth of Khorne Veteran but rarely does my Shootah Nob not last for the entire match or the vast majority of it for example. And holy hell those marine shield vets..
  4. They can die easily, it's true. But they really can take a beating now more than they used to. My Shieldbro vet with the GA Halo can really survive some nasty shit if I'm careful.

Vet Tacticals with the Halo can be VERY good at peek a boo since their armor pool is huge and fast regening. Same with CSM Tacs and even Havocs in their case with Sigil of Tzeentch.

I think one elite per match the way things currently are is fine with a few exceptions. Getting to an elite with only an average skill level is no easy feat. Mine took months to get and I only ended up grabbing it about february this year. Depending on which elite I bring the enemy can be thrown off balance in many ways. From being overall harder to kill to just having more kit veterans are a danger to the enemy team when used correctly. I believe the hope was that people wouldn't spawn as a lone vet, an easy picking for a group of enemies and would instead coordinate to whip the vet out in times of need together. Like two points taken and the match drawing close to the end. The enemy begins viciously assaulting the one point that could bring them to victory only to find the defenders spawning their vets to utterly demolish their assault. But I digress.

One elite per match, per level 5 player, is fine if used correctly. The only exceptions being the first 10 seconds after choosing your deployment loadouts. Due to how the game spawns you as the last class you swapped I've found myself deploying as an elite without meaning to. So I think you should be allowed to redeploy without losing the elite for the first ten seconds after spawning the first time in a match.

The second situation where I see being given another elite is if you spawn in as an elite and die in the next five seconds. That is either someone aiming at a spawn location, an enemy waiting at a spawn location, or just plain bad luck to happen to spawn when something is there that could kill you near instantly.

Again, this is in the current state of the game. As it changes there should be changes to make the system better.

I say leave the mark and let us use the vet cosmetics on all classes once we hit rank 6 and have them all unlocked.

1 simple solution for deplyoing Veterans and later proper elites and heroes would be a spawn point system.

Simply put, as you do stuff durign a match you earn spawn points which you can then spend to respawn as a Veteran/Elite/Hero.

For example: Veteran = 10000 points. Elite (IE Terminator) = 20000 points. Hero = 40000 points

The rate at which you earn these points and the costs coudl then be rebalanced as needed.

This way everyoen exept the most terrible of players (which probalby wouldnt unlock a veteran class anyway) would get the oportunity to use them but players that do well would be able to use them more often. Once elites and heroes are a thign it would also add a strategic decision. Do I spend my points and spawn as a Veteran now or do I save up for a Terminator?

  8. I support the current deathmarker system a lot, lets you know when things are scary.

Originally elites were able to be spawned twice a match, but were much weaker as a result.
I quite like the current balance of the elite class(they are tough but aren't unkillable) but if you play them well you can clear a room filled with unprepared enemies.(my shoota nob for example is a wrecking ball of destruction alone, let alone with +one elite spawned at the same time)

please don't listen to anyone in this thread wanting to spam elites on new players. As odd as the current system for elites is, I quite like it moreso than the old 2 spawns system.

A lot of people seem to forget that to make the elite 'elite' it has to have a value attached to it.
one life is perfect for that.
So, I reiterate. No cooldowns, no point system. work on new content instead of constantly retweaking existing(and working quite well) content.

    thanks :)

    Keep the symbol.

If you honestly don't know how useful it is to have, you've never faced an entire team of Vets at the same time. You're going to want to know what they are as soon as possible.

Just give them the higher LP and reduce the EHP back to normal levels. Then make defensive wargear better. Last put them on a 3 minute clock. Current vets are way too strong for multiple lives.
