  1. This is my prediction and I'll start with a definition.
Perfectly Balanced - Two teams of randomized players of sufficient size win 50/50 regardless of race.

Even if they game met the Perfectly Balanced ideal state, others would still be calling the Eldar OP and deserving of the nerf bat. Why? Because of practice and tunnel vision.

    1. Self selection into the eldar will not generate equal player bases. With the hideously large skew in numbers, the players seeking the challenge of being out numbered (and not having to to deal with the F2W crowd) will gravitate to the eldar increasing them to above the mean.

    2. With less territory being held, Eldar players will tend to have lower run back time, less tyranid time and over less down time meaning they will be getting significantly more practice for the same amount of game time; again skewing to above mean. It also means less of a req tax fighting far from base.

    3. Aspect specialization-us. Given most people will probably spend most of their time on their favorite aspect, they will be getting a lot of practice in that particular area. If you're playing most of the time as a DA, you're going to get really good with that catapult.

    4. Aspect specialization-them. Even if the battle is overall matched, it won't appear that way to the individuals fighting. If you are a marine facing an eldar aspect in his sweet spot (like close quarter vehicle killing for FD, close shooting range for DA, etc), the frustration of being outmatched there will stick out in your memory more than all the times you massacred them when you caught them unprepared.

    5. HC req. If all the councils generate req at the same rate, then mathematically the eldar will have more HC req to spend on any given battlefield or player. This means individuals will have more time to practice with their elites, heros, and vehicles compared to a marine player who is self req-ing them far from his home supply.

Everything you listed is part of the game.

That's it, pretty much. That's exactly what Eldar do. They win through superior skill at one thing. If anyone wants to beat them then they need variety. They need someone to shoot up that banshee a little before anyone tries assaulting it. If people can't make basic decisions like that then they probably won't like this game to begin with.

So basically you are saying the Eldar will consist of a few highly skilled veterans, who specialize in specific aspects, while utilizing superior gear, as they take advantage of lightning strikes and hit and run tactics, while their opponents are overextended? Yup, lore breaking stuff that is, might as well remove them from the game.

I see the words Kamikazzijoe but I still don't get it. Could you include graphs and actual playable Eldar to your predictions? :p

  5. What the OP suggests is EXACTLY my hopes and dreams for our faction. I dearly hope every one cries op. Their tears of rage/frustration will only fuel me.

  6. Exactly, which is why the others will be whining for the nerf bat!

I don't think you understand. What they described is exactly how the Eldar should be. This game isn't about symmetrical balance. They can whine all they want but if it's just a group of players who are skilled then they can get over it. They're always welcome to switch to Eldar and see how not OP they are.

  9. As are Ork Boyz who can even hope to fight an Astartes 1 on 1, lore doesn't really count for s**t here when it comes to balance and it never had too much influence to begin with. If it did the Loyalists would, more or less, steamroll all of Arkhona without much trouble.

That being said, while Eldar are specialized I will become a little frustrated if the mechanics aren't as balanced as they can be. If it's just better players I'd be fine with it, but Dire Avengers better not be roflstomping Tacticals at mid-range combat 90% of the time.
  10. Wildfire Wildfire Prefectus

We will have much less 'hp' than other factions, we're not clad in 3+ power armour (b-but striking sc- SHUSH) so we need to make up for that in more specific areas, such as if a banshee encloses with a target it's pretty fucked unless they're very skilled or the banshee is wounded. If anything I'm more worried about nubs playing Eldar DA or what not and whinging that they can't suck up a beating like Astartes can and bE slowly making all factions the same thing with different skins.

Hopefully though bE wont listen to those guys and will still keep the factions how they are in law. Astartes and chaos should be walking demigods clad in some of the thickest armour in the universe, eldar should be fast, nimble precise; a scalpel cut not a hammer bludgeon. Orks, well it'll be interesting to see how they go with that. Hopefully they make orks pretty weak but give them stacking buffs for the more of them there are in an area so they can truly Waaaagh! around ina big zerg.
