Wraithguard / blades aren't the equivalent of Termies. Personally I think they are better. Wraithguard have str 10 guns as standard and be upgraded to a str 4 ap 2 flamer. Both have the distort rule and absolutely murder anything they get pointed at. Sure they may not be so CC orientated but would you charge a unit of instant death flamers that has the potential to auto hit 15 times per 5 man unit. Either 160pts or 210pts a unit, throw in a Farseer or an Iyanden Spiritseer and that unit gets even more dangerous. Stick them in a waveserpant with TL shurikans, a cannon and that serpants shield and I think you have one of the scariest units in the game.
Don't get me wrong I love Terminators, they look awesome and with Thunder Hammers and Storm Shields are still one of the best CC units in the game. But 6th Ed is all about shooting and Eldar just do that better, be it Bladestorm from Guardian blobs or Distort from Cannons and scythes those Terminators are in for a rough ride.
And if your playing against an Iyanden list with 2 Wraithknights as well, you better pray the dice gods are with you.
Terminators are cool, very cool but Ghost warriors they are not.
I have played a terminator armie (deathwing) and currently Iyanden and I know which I think hits harder.

Then we can compare the Wraithlord to the Dreadnought, ones a vehicle and the others a monsterous creature. The Wraithlord if used well has 2 weapons now that fire independently and aren't twin linked (I go with bright lances) and you can take 2 flamers, stick on a ghost glave for 5 pts and it outclasses the poor old dreadnought by a mile. That's without hammer of wraith too. The only Dread that comes close in my view is a Mortis contemptor with x 2 kheres cannons and missile launcher, but that's 55pts more.
I love space marines and I love dreads. But Wraithlords just hit harder.

basically the same old powercreep story wg uses to sell stuff. the newest armies are the best, outdated ones cant hold up.

Guys, this is not about TT, you can't really bring table top math into an action game... on that note, it is safe to say that Wraithguards\Wraithblades are something like Termies.

I disagree, kind of. Both are elite units that are few in number. Both are something your bog standard infantry unit wouldn't stand a hope in hell against. But ones the shell containing the spirit of a dead eldar warrior, the other the elite, top of his game space marine. They both have strengths and weaknesses and I think that's where they differ.

As for dismissing table top stats, surely that's one measuring point we can use to show just how elite a unit is and comparing stats helps us compare how they could interact with each other. It helps with displaying just how tough a terminator with thunder hammer and storm shield is or how devastating a shot from d-scythe can be. It gives us a point of reference. Although you could argue the differences between a space marine and a guardsmen should be far greater. I guess it's a juggling act, trying to achieve game balance and maintain some faithfulness to the fluff too.

Well we should look at it in a gameplay point of view, they both are very tough and strike hard (altho I would say Wraithguards strike harder...), so they will fit in the same role of expensive, devastating class. It really does not matter in terms of gameplay whether one is a veteran space marine in armor and other one is a wraith construct with a waystone in it.
