I get that the wraithlord is the dread equivilant, but what about wraithguard? are they the terminator equivilant?
considering the firepower they wear, theyre kinda there somewhere. but overall not equal to a termie.
Dread equivalent is Wraithlord. There is no Terminator Equivalent in Eldar army, due to different combat doctrine. Wraithguard are somewhat close, but i don't think that half-alive statues wielding warp-infused weaponry could compare with skilled warriors in heaviest armour.
they might be half alive but those guys are in those things for centuries, theyre hardcore veterans as well. also you have spiritseers to make them not jsut half alive, but combat effective to a degree. but yes, there arent many things that can compare to a terminator and certainly not in an eldar army who relies on ridiculous damage output and speed rather than armour.
True, but I have a feeling that fact will be ignored for the sake of game balancing. No 40k game has ever been 1:1 in terms of the relationship between units (or their disparity). Think of Space Hulk. Do you really see a single Terminator soloing a dozen or more Genestealers in a single round? Methinks not.
outside of close combat i expect them to solo dozens of them. at least in that newly released game they did, and cc termies were jsut utter crap, even the sarges. i wouldnt mind wraithguard overhelming termies with firepower, because thats what they do ( like eldar in generalm be it close combat or ranged)
It's hard to say, Terminators compare to the Wraithguard have complytly difrent roles in there armys. Sure Wraithguard has a huge firepower and the can destroy a Terminator, but a Terminator is a very skilled multi-purpose weteran soldier, so he can do so much more compare to a Wraithguard. a Think in meele combat only a Seer Counciul have a chance to win (beacuse of there speed, combat abilites and a litte of psyker powers).
Sort of, in tabletop stats. They are somewhat similarly costed per model, and their stats sort of work the same way / terminators have notably better armor, but wraithguard have notably better toughness. In essence, both are both heavy elite infantry units. The parallel is more direct for the melee terminator and wraithguard units (more attacks with AP3 vs fewer attacks with AP 2, lower initiative and better inv. save). Ranged wraithguard are a bit more different than ranged terminators as ranged wraithguards are very short-range, while ranged terminators bring a medium-range gun and have options for either short range (heavy flamers) or long-range (cyclone missile launcher) upgrades.
