Celexia simply nodded at Zerelith for her assistance. She then attempted to get back on her remaining three legs, hoping to aid in the fight. Jyraielle began firing her Shuriken pistol and Mandiblasters at Erythea, but as expected, she was maintaining a ward. After all, one wouldn't expect her to go down so easily. Eld and Khrele rushed forward against her, weapons held high. Erythea dodged the first several blows and then backed off with a simple jump. She almost seemed bored. This only agitated the Venari even more. How could she kill a living being so nonchalantly? Someone they had known for most their lives... --- Areena nodded with a smile from Wyrniv's confidence. "Then let's get moving." And move they did. They traversed several streets, sometimes taking the longer route to avoid larger enemy groups. It wouldn't be long before the Walker could be heard. Seemed it was still running and fighting, but it seemed it had slowed a bit. Likely having suffered heavy damage. And then they stumbled upon an enemy ambush. A slightly ironic scenario. Those who were to prey upon the Walker, were in turn going to become the prey. Areena grinned. Three Chaos Space Marines, and a large group of cultists. Shouldn't be too much trouble. Especially with the Monarch at their side. The Chaos troops were moving down a street, from cover to cover. They seemed to have several heavy weapons at their disposal while the Venari remained in an alleyway, the perfect position to begin an ambush.
Wyrniv growled. Not one of anger, but one of grim happiness. The idiots, the bloody idiots, laying out in the open. No tactical mind at all! He abandoned complicated plans, a simple plan was better now; strike fast and strike strong. "Take them out from afar," he commanded his squad, not bothering to take out his own rifle due to what he had to say, "I'll personally finish up whatever survives of that.. group."
Though Jyraielle had Khalintyr to help her, even with all his powers - hidden from them both as they still were - she couldn't prevail. In desperation she sent a microvox out to Areena and her team, just so that they would know where the Chaos Witch was and to prevent her from ambushing the Venari Queen once she'd chewed through the Scorpion and her hard-pressed allies. Majesty, she is here - (she gives co-ordinates) - we cannot take her down. Please be aware, she is heavily shielded. We will distract her as long as we can. "Fall back!" she said into her own team's vox. "Fall back, consolidate our position and protect the wounded!"
With that the other Venari nodded and fell into position. Shards of crystal filled the air and flew straight into the backs of the enemy. A coward's attack some would call it. Others, survival. In moments most of the cultists were slain, leaving but four still standing, having dodged the projectiles somehow. The Marines also managed to survive. All three of them. No doubt they were for more resilient and their armor far thicker. They all turned and began firing upon the Venari. Noticing their mistake the Marines rallied the other cultists to take cover, to improve their survivability. Bolts began to fill the air as the Marines returned fire. Their bolts catching several Venari and critically wounding one. But it seemed Areena's attention was elsewhere. Wyrnirv. Her thoughts invaded his mind. I'm leaving you in charge, deal with these and get to our walker. I have other matters that need immediate attention. Don't follow me... I'll be fine. She reassured him, knowing the idea of leaving her unprotected would not sit well with the group. I'm coming child... Was the only reply Jyraielle could get. The Venari continued to fight Erythea, exchanging blow after blow until blood filled the air. Black blood. In an instant Khrele had lost an arm and then another. Eld attempted to step in and stop the onslaught but was only parried and then was sent backwards by a small blast of energy from Erythea's palm. Khrele latched onto Erythea and tossed her to the side only to have several bolts penetrate his skull a moment later as she flew. "Khrele!" Celexia called out and a moment later as she was attempting to rush to him, a blast of energy flew by, making contact with her and propelling her back a great distance. The blow had enough force to toss even Zerelith who was nearby to the ground, but luckily the energy was mostly concentrated. Jyraielle... We need to do something... We'll all be slaughtered before Areena even arrives! Khalintyr stated. @Vulpas @Cat @Zyver_Wyrdmake @Jorimel
Wyrniv growled his frustration into the thin air and leaped forth, charging at the large Chaos figures. The sensation at the back of his mind had returned with the departure of the Monarch. This time, however, it was constant; always there, every second strengthening its effects. The venari warrior didn't hesitate, didn't back down, he just.. let go and the famed bloodlust came crashing in, pouring into his mind and clouding his vision for a second. Primordial instincts became a priority to him now, fight or die. The Chaos Marines were a threat to his entire people and his desire to kill them was getting stronger and stronger by the second. Death, he thought, the simple words sounding so very slow in his mind, you will.. not stop.. death.
Had Jyraielle not been under the Mask of the Scorpion she might have panicked, but the Curse of Khaine was also its blessing. She held firm, but she was blown back by the attack, which had scattered the Eldar and their allies like leaves. It seemed plain that Erythea was toying with them. She had said that she didn't care about the sword, but Jyraielle was not so sure. If only she knew! If she had that knowledge then she might have used it to lead the Chaos Witch away from the wounded. But she didn't have it. Khalintyr! she mind-whispered back, desperate. She's killing them! If we cannot attack her then maybe we can hold her off, just until reinforcements get here! Can you use your fire to make a shield? Just to block her attacks - the Venari don't have the protection they need, this is slaughter!
As zerelith Rose back up from the ground she took aim with her Reaper launcher at the ground beneath The Chaos Witchs feat then fired making a burst shot to the ground and around her testing her wards trying to find a weak spot or pattern to the wards.
I think... I think I can surround Erythea in flames... I just need you to plant me in the ground and do as you did before. Focus your energy and you'll find it will ignite into a burning inferno a moment later. He replied. Eld had already gotten back to his feet but seemed stunned. Perhaps he was coming to terms with what had just occurred to his friends before his eyes. No War-mask to shield him. Erythea jumped back from the ranged fire provided by Zerelith. Opting to dodge it instead of simply deflecting or blocking it. A slightly different reaction than what had been received earlier. Perhaps Erythea was growing tired? Or maybe something else... -- @Cat Celexia had landed near Selene. It was apparent the Venari had survived, but how much longer. She was bleeding at a rapid rate, an was missing at least one limb. Perhaps she had lost another in the blast? --- The Cultists would jump out of cover in an attempt to slow Wyrnirv's advance only to be cut down by the Venari remaining out of melee range, but not before they managed to get a few shots off, doing damage to Wyrniv's chest and left leg. Luckily his hide limited the damage to mere flesh wounds. A few of the Cultists managed to survive but they were of absolutely no threat to the Venari in close combat, yet, they still stood between him and the departing Space Marines. He wouldn't be able to take them alone and they had departed onto another street, just out of range of the others and effectively removing the advantage the Venari had from flanking. Seemed they were continuing the original objective while the Cultists held the Venari off? Maybe. Maybe not. Who could say for sure save for maybe Erythea herself? The only thing the Venari knew was that they needed to be stopped. OOC: You can kill the remaining Cultists however you like.
