Airthas remained in a stationary position, deciding it best to stay dormant in his knelling stance in order to show continued respect for the ancient guardian that stood before them. However, the creatures response proved to be difficult for him to understand. All it did was spawn a multitude of questions that flooded his mind, consuming him with a curiosity that his body language and very words hinted towards. "How do you already know of Erythea and Cearys? And what do you mean when you say 'we have watched you grow'? Are you talking about my people or... me?"
"Caerys... Erythea... Eldrad..." It replied for a moment and then fell silent, nothing but the sound of its breathing filling the room. It then continued to answer the final question. "Both..."
A pluralizing answer, having the effect of creating more questions rather than answering them. "So if you have observed my people, then you should know that we are a slowly decaying race, suffering from a truly unrelenting universe. You should know that countless souls are lost every day, becoming food for demons and mutated monstrosities. You should know that life is cruel and death is at every corner. But most importantly, you should KNOW that even after the collapse of our civilization, a chain of events brought about by our own selfish desires, we continually strive to be better!" Airthas elegantly arose off of his knees, standing proudly on his feet with his eyes looking at the guardian's own. His eyes glimmered with determination, an example of the confident in himself in persuading the guardian to see the nobility of their goals. "While our history has been tainted, you should know that in each of us is a potential light in the darkness. A candle, awaiting the needed flame. The secrets here is that flame. I come before you now, asking for the flame to light the way. Well you do this, or shall we be left forever in the dark?"
"I have watched your people for an age now... Yes... Each of you is capable, but that does not mean one is willing... Some of your people have fallen..." It replied as it took several steps closer, its eyes directly in front of Airthas. "There are those who would not seek to do better. And that is why I guard these vaults... But I do not sense taint upon any of you... But know this young warlock... I can not help you. Only you may help yourself here..."
Squeezing Su'iris's hand back Teras started to study their current position in full. If they could only help themselves then it would mean there was a way out of this room at least, that or the creature was lying to them.
Teras could see the room continued for a good distance behind the creature, but that would mean going passed it, as it covered most of the immediate area. Nothing could be seen in the distance, not from this position.
" What did you do before you guard this place guardian or were you made just for this duty?" zerelith asked
Jyraielle watched the great creature with keen perceptions, studying it, trying to take in every detail as an artist might. It was a marvel, and of a wondrous age ... if what it said was true; but then she could see no reason for it to lie. So she decided to treat its words as truth. Which meant that this elder being was of such an age that it might even have known their ancient and beloved gods. The Scorpion burned with questions to ask, but she knew she had to focus on their mission, so she held her tongue. With difficulty.
"Guardian, you say you cannot help us and that we must help ourselves. Does that mean we may advance to whatever lay behind you without being struck down by -yourself-? " The Avenger had patience to spare but there were pressing matters to attend and at the least he could clear up that one question eating at his mind.
