    Trap-influenced flamenco. I think it'd work.

Im curious about what we'll end up with.

Inventing an eldar-ethnic sound is probably the right thing to do. Ancient civilizations tend to have their own ways. The difficulty here I think is to combine all the elements of both WH40k in general and of the Eldar. Something along the lines of epic, massive, grim and war combined with pride, sadness, arrogance and agility. An odd match perhaps, but isn't that what makes the Eldar?

Browsing through the OSTs of games I've played for ideas, this one stands out.

To better fit the "Victorious Eldar" rather than dystopian future, I'd suggest upping the speed some, perhaps rapid percussions to match a swift heartbeat. Replace the synth/electornic sound with whatever "wierd ethnic international instrument" and up the mood to triumphant.

Again, combining grief over the Eldar lives lost and the joy of battle and victory is ... strange?
  4. I like that idea! I have the feeling there should always be some kind of melancholic aspect to their songs even when victorious...because its always just a little delay in the ultimate doom of the eldar race...outrunning your fate might lead to a melancholic shroud over everything you achieve

  5. Some non-electronic aproach and full symphonic one would be this (however this slight circus theme would maybe fit more to Harlequins ;) )

especially the use of Uillean pipes might be interesting for Eldar themes however it should not sound too irish
  6. We're still not done. The point of no return is not crossed. We're working to get our Empire up again.
And even as the for Mon'Keigh unusually illuminated Inquisitor Czevak himself said:
"Though I have seen within the Black Library and spoken to its most terrible guardian, I can never reveal what happened there; not to any man nor even the Emperor himself for I am so forsworn to powers beyond your knowledge. I can only say that a time of inconceivable horror is about to begin. A time when mankind with all the might of the Imperium cannot endure when the strength of the Eldar fails. Even now, our doom stalks us across the stars."

Really liked that Deus Ex song too!

I think the guy they have now has a good idea. A lot of unusual instruments will give a cool feel and he'd still be very rooted in orchestra stuff.
  8. Personally, while I can certainly agree and appreciate both the Deus Ex and High Elf options above, some of Fank Klepacki's works always seem to come to mind involving the more militant Craftworld Eldar. In particular, Divine Intervention and Grey Goo's Main Theme stand out rather well, especially the end credits remix in the latter case.
