Well I don't have £57 to spend on The Art of Warhammer book. But I'm not sure if there would be much Eldar in it. Mostly just a lot of helmets, but no faces. Also depictions will always vary because of different artists preferences, not a bad thing. I don't really see a need to make humanoids look freakish. We have Tyranids for that. o_0
Bioware tried that already. Didn't end well... Took a lot of many banned accounts and flame wars, before Bioware decided they would put all their races in Dragon Age: Inquisition and without the elf disease that plagued the elves for the sake of being Unique, that's Bioware's favourite word when they take something that looks decent and turn it into bad, but they think looks amazing and original even if the fans scream out in protests. I always thought if you're going to take something old and change it. Do it in a subtle way, like culture and clothing. Not make it a horror show.
Google will show up a lot of design sketches from Jes Goodwin, the sculptor who designed the Eldar That's a helpful reference that I have used myself. He's also an excellent pencil artist.
I like the idea of Eldar being uncanny valley. They are humanoid..but clearly not human. Dawn of War 2 did ti fairly well, without going over the top on the alienness.
But I think that my kin in Dawn of War 2 were pretty ... Nice and Eldar! I would love if its like in DoW2.
