Eldar in game sooner than expected?

Until we know exactly what capabilities the Avenger Shuriken Cat has then it's kind of moot. Atm it's a solid weapon and if they translate Bladestorm and the lack of recoil it'll be unreal (the best light weapon in the game ?) but it's also quite possible they'll allow serious mods for it that expand it's role and effectiveness in more than 1 way. We know they'll have a long-range weapon equivelent to the Stalker also.

I hope DAs end up getting the Twin-Linked ASC and the Shuriken Cannon. Both allow a lot of movement in TT/Lore and would fill some of the gap.

At any rate we also have to factor anything that the DA gets in the way of movement/attack speed. That could make them a lot more effective at close ranged combat than an Astartes Tactical, which would be tactically valuable when it comes to actual capping.

IMO, Let both Dire Avengers and Warlocks capture nodes: since we have like 7-8 classes, and everyone else has 4 - we need 2 that can capture because our population will be twice divided. Both the DA and the Warlock are logical choices - and both suit the specialization within the Eldar warhost.

DA are purpose built for tactical objective capturing, and warlocks are aggressive defense specialists - plus lore-wise they occupy the leadership role of the person who would say, "Disengage the enemy - take that building and secure such-and-such objective!" - plus they like to lead from the front: so they'd be taking the building personally if they gave that order (closer to Commissars and Chaplains than they are to Sorcerers and Apothecaries).

This isn't quite the case. The extra classes are just to cover the core roles, they need 2 to do all the Dev/Havoc stuff and 3 to do the ASM/Raptor jobs (although symmetrically).

    Tactical - DA
    Support - W
    Heavy - FD, DR
    Assault - SS, HB, SH

We all have one Tactical and one Support class. Really you're just getting extra builds with unique looks/progression (equal number unlocks) and some slightly different mechanics. But the SM Assault can take loadouts that completely change it's playstyle too much like the 3 Assault Eldars.

I very much hope and assume that our Warlocks are not simply a support class like the Sorcerer and Apothecary - but a threat in his own right. He shouldn't be out on the field healing people and resurrecting: perhaps deflecting bullets around them with some kind of aura or cooldown - but Warlocks are not "Support" they're murdery leadership psykers.

I don't want to see them shoehorned into a pure Support role. All Eldar are support units (we all support each other) - or none of us are - but we don't fit into your Mon'keigh paradigms of combat roles.

The Witch Path isn't your healer. Conceal (mass stealth) sure! Enhance (improved accuracy, reduced recoil) sure! Protect (bonus armor/shielding) sure! Destructor (psychic explosion) mandatory!

Support doesn't mean defensive support. The AS/Warlock are a hell of a lot more offensive (DoTs, DD, debuffs) than the Apothecary, they do however heal.

The Dire Avenger will have a DMR / Stalker equiviliant weapon of some kind, maybe a "nerfed" Las Rifle of some kind (shuriken catapults seem rather ineffective at long range/past 100m).

I think that is a bad idea. DAs don't need a sniper rifle. Give us scouts for that. Not some hybrid crap.

The support class should not be considered in the equation for cappers as everyone get just one (at this point).
So, that gives us 6 classes to 3. It makes it rather obvious that we should have a second capper. Normally I would suggest the Banshee, but after reading @Laanshor 's post, I now think it should be the Fire Dragon. The Fire Dragon is the very similar to a Tactical with a melta gun or plasma gun.

So, how about it? Do you guys agree?

I can see the idea of letting Fire Dragons be the second capper, due to the similarities with the Tactical Marine, but I think Striking Scorpions might be better, since they are supposed to be forward units, though I am uncertain if that includes capping.

I guess my favorite "second capper" is the Warlock, since they are leaders by lore. But I firmly believe that will open up for a excrement storm of whine and "Eldar is op hax" and "Elder is the noob faction" etc. etc..

I understand that you want Scorps or Warlocks, but they both have specialties that would preclude them from being a capper. The word is Scorpions will have stealth, which would make them too good at sneaking in to do the capping. Warlocks are support, so they are a no no as well....

The Tactical quality doesn't refer to their leadership though, it's their adaptability on the field. I'm waiting to see what the DA has that makes them somewhat Tactical before weighing in. A lot of people were worrying about the Tact/Traitor being the soul capper and that hasn't caused any problems in Alpha so far.

Someone needs to keep hammering the community Q&A and Twitch about the DA loadout variety because all we know atm is that they have ASCs and a Stalker equivalent (note: DMR not Sniper Rifle). If they have a good spread of loadouts, tactical wargear and something like the confirmed Tactical dual-primaries (alt-fire shurikens ?) then they'll be totally engaging and the best go-to spec. The Tactical in Alpha has proved just how potent the "bland" class really is.

I'm very pro-Eldar, and pro 'play it your way', but there are times where I can't play my favourite class (Havoc) or second favourite (Raptor) because other roles are needed. I think the same will and should apply to the DA (which is a tits Aspect imo) while I plan to spend most of my Eldar playtime as a Reaper or Ban'he'e.
