Though all of this talk about physics is mildly interesting, I'm just going to point out 2 things; 1. This is a game. In this game there is "magic" and multiple nasty races and gods etc. Real physics has NOTHING to do with this game. 2. physics also doesn't have anything to do with the Eldar getting into the game sooner than expected. Final thought, the way a lascannon works also has nothing to do with the Eldar getting into the game sooner... Shall we get back on track?
Arguably nothing we talk about will make the Eldar get in the game sooner. Also, I like to assume that we live in a world in which magic, nasty races, and evil gods are real - we just haven't found them yet because we're trapped on Earth I live day-to-day on the assumption that somewhere up above us, the Eldar soar past Earth and scoff at us goofy Mon'keigh, and that if we don't get our shit together quickly - Tyranids will come eat our world.
Following your logic - since we have 'magic', we don't need things like gravity, Newton's Laws of Motion nor any other scientifically established truths... In my opinion, good fantasy or sci-fi does not try to invent the world anew. It makes use of existing historic/scientific knowledge and tries to build upon that foundation. Otherwise, we end up with things as absurd as Maugan Ra flying into the Eye of Terror (i.e. entering a black hole). Suspension of disbelief has it's boundaries.
Well, if you were to say something like; "I would like to buy BeHaviour Entertainment." and thereafter say; "Here is a [huge amount of money], now go make the Eldar." We just need 2x[huge amount of money] now...
No need to go over the top now. If you want to talk physics that's fine, just make a new thread in off topic.
People were talking about the fusion gun and melta gun and how they would work, so this thread was already way off topic before I began my spiel. Tarl linked data specifying the Devs wanted to make them move or fire weapons with charge ups. I pointed out that would suck and used the current Lascannon model as an example as to why it would suck. This point was questioned repeatedly so I attempted to provide further and further evidence to prove my point, instead of just supplying a blanket statement that only says "No, you are wrong. I am right". I think the first 8 pages fairly exhausted the topic of Eldar entrance speculation... so people just started talking about other things.
Yep. I am almost hyped now Sadly I have to do half a gazillion assignment during the "holidays" and study for the coming exams, but a few hours of testing couldn't possibly hurt
Yup, Satans little helpers are elves.. in SPAAAACE. (Note: he hoped for this) Spoiler Not a typo . In the grim darkness of the 41st millenium, Rudolph gets his happy trampling little kids. Bring on the dark eldar too For the melta-gun, I do agree, I wouldn't want a short-ranged charge-up weapon tbh. As mentioned in an earlier post, weapons with charge-up mechanics: -Lascannon -Plasma gun -Plasma cannon -vindicator, and the similars -possibly meltagun -possibly some lock-on missile launchers.. The amount of charge-up weapons is gonna outnumber the other weapons.. wtf Time to find another method to balance things out.[/SPOILER]
Good afternoon foul xenos, just wanted to mention that in livestream 40 yesterday Nathan spitballed an Eldar stream reveal as a sort of Christmas present if you missed it.
