Eldar Corsairs As A Class

Discussion in 'Eldar' started by Corphy, Apr 4, 2014.

  1. Corsairs could be done as an option for Eldar players who wish to rather than be on a side in the whole Spesss Marunes, pointy gits, choppy bois and wot not. you are not against anyone but you can take part in battle for which ever side you wish? or you could raid and harass the larger nations but then that is DE so, they are probably not large or important enough to be added, at least at launch.

Why want amateurs, when you can have the real deal? wait for DE to come out, we will be as chaotic and piratey as needed.
I would like to see Corsairs as npc's though, in some kind of bar in a little corner of the webway where all Eldar can hang out.
kalilionaire, Breckenridge and Mngwa like this.

Gotta agree with Dark Eldar > Corsairs, sure they are NOT the same and our Dark Kin are WAY more depraved, but it would make more sense. I don't think they will be going for more obscure stuff. Otherwise we might just end up with the Slicing Orbs of Zandros running around Arkhona!

There really is only three eldar "races": The Craftworld Eldar, Dark Eldar, and Exodites.
Corsairs are a faction of eldar that originate from one of those.

But yeah, since DE are more numerous and are what they are, I would guess a healthy chunk of corsairs come from Commorragh.
  5. generally from craftworlds.

    i guess i agree ultimately.
also, how do rangers relate to corsairs? do rangers just kind of do whatever they want for a while, or generally become corsairs, or are both technically 'path of the outcast'?

I guess they are both in that path.
Rangers usually just travel in smaller groups

...and harlequins, 'cause they don't fit into any of these categories.

Rangers are indeed free to do whatever they want and are part of the outcasts just like the corsairs; however the first ones generally remain bound to their home craftworld, whereas the second ones are true untied and homeless freebooters (more details about their differences in the Path of the Outcast novel, where there is a corsair crew featuring some dark kin).

Harlequins are a tough nut to categorize...

I guess you could say that the three main Eldar factions; Exodites, Craftworld and Dark are the primary divisions. Each of these factions have populations that remain largely separate from the other groups and have cultures that are likewise separate and distinct.

Harlequins, on the other hand, mark the point at which the three circles of the Eldar Venn diagram overlap.

They are still essentially separate from their kin, but in their role as entertainers and the bearers of the most ancient history of their race they are welcome in every faction.
In addition to this they are the priesthood of the last true Eldar god and the keepers of the greatest secrets of the Eldar.

Though the factions each have their own cultures, the harlequins represent what they have in common - the lessons of history, their hopes and fears.
They are a part of each faction.

A Corsair on the other hand is a career not a faction in the same way that pirate is an activity not a nationality.
  10. The reason for having a Corsair class, (not DE), would be for people who, as in the same in the lore dont want to orgy a god into life, or take this path and ignore all others. It would be a small and well, if it does not get enough player some what useless sub-race (branch thingy what ever). I could really only see them implimented as a merc race that anyone can hire for raids or assistance in battles, or to harass enemy supply line. They would have to be forced in game to honor these agreements or they would never be used.
