DalRan was lying down, about to fall asleep, when he heard faint banging and screaming coming from some spot on the ship not far from his room, but still a good distance away. Then, he believed he heard a death cry. DalRan got up and took his sidearm, loaded it, and took another ammunition core for good measure, he'd be damned if there was bloodshed and he didn't get to be a part of it...the sensation of killing something too exciting to pass up. The door opened and he sneaked out, the one guard there not noticing him.
OOC: quick note. There are no red-shirts. If you engage Security, no killing. Passangers are safe in their rooms. Only thing that can cause death is the Khymerae. Dunvel won't kill those guards, will post in a bit. Keep this in mind.
OOC: I assumed they weren't that's why I let it open to get injured, but lore wise catapults shoot like 100 shots a second. It best graze someone.
Before the shutiken could reach the Officers, thin wires cut them out of the air. The security officers didn't see this, but they were on to the sound of Dunvel. However, a cloud of mist filled the air around them, knocking them unconcious. A figure approached from the opposite side of the guards. It wore a White frowning mask and made not a sound. The Mime walked over the unconcious forms, blocking Dunvel from proceeding. Its head was completely smooth, in a skin tight body suit. Its left arm had a flowing black sleave, with bell hanging from it. Yet still no sounds were made, even as it walked. Its right arm was sleeveless, but shown to be wearing a larg metallic glove like claw. Thin wires seemed to hang from it. Bringing it's clawed pointer finger to its mouth, he says "Sssssh." Then throws a small layered construct in front of Dunvel. It opened, revealing a holo image of Encog-Nito. "Greetings in a manner of speaking. If you are watching this, it means you are Dunvel and it's time to play our game. Your first task is to get past my friend here. We know how much you like to play mind games, so we sent you a special playmate. White Mime doesn't say much, but as a master of the silent art of killing. I'm sure you two will have pleanty to discuss. Your second task is to find us. To do this, you'll need some help. So here's a hint, One falls to nothingness, while two decide their fate, three train to find the keys that open all the gates. Good luck Dunvel, and you may take solace in knowing that we will take excellent care of the Child. I told you not to get too involved. Oh well." The image faded and the device returned to White Mime. Raising his right claw again, he makes the gesture of 'come at me.'
When Etrigen leaves his quarters he doesn't find any stationed Security. Instead, he finds a Skull faced figure waiting in the distance. Its mask was black with one open socet. Its dark robes were covered in bones and trappings of a morbid nature, and carrying a large weapon with both hands. It had a barrol for firing and a cyth like blade attachment at the end. Black Skull Deathjester did not approach Etrigen, but nor did he indicate any intention of letting him pass. "If you value the safety of this ship and the lives of your family, you will return to your room and leave this matter be. Simpler, go back to your room and no one will be harmed." DalRan would not find the source of the noise right away. Instead he would find an increased security presence the more he went. To make matters worse, Lieutenant Calypsa was among them. Every seemed on edge. "Why are only select corridors being guarded?" One of the officers asked her. "That's none of our concern. There have been strange reports in this area, that is your concern. Find it, identify it, and contain it." In truth, Calypsa didn't know. Idraman was in charge of security while the Captain tried to keep the ship in one piece. DalRan might notice a number of shadows that seemed to be moving without the influence of varying light sources. Beware! *Sudden Astral Specters* Kurin would sense disturbing images. A hungry beast that stalked the corridors, a black armored figure and a White blurred image doing battle, and a smooth silver face looking back at her. "Can you keep your precious students safe?" The red Harlequin Nito inquired before vanishing from her visions. Zamehir was contained in a darkened clear orb, Cegorach's runes maintaining the child's suspended animation. Blue Demon, Gold Trouper, and Nito were with him. "What are you up to Encog?" "Nothing Troupe Master, nothing at all." "You're lucky your a good lier." "I know."
DalRan leaned hard against a wall as some guards walked past, he'd sneaked through, but there we so many guards, he may not be able to make i- something moved, he raised his pistol. He saw its shadow...it was behind him, he turned, weapon raised, but found nothing. Turning back around he saw the shadow was closer now...probably just another harlequin doing some of their tricks at the most convenient of times. So he walked foward past the shadow and turned around, the lieutenant was there, along with the officers, and he was in front of them to be seen with his weapon. He was about to curse something, but the shadow behind him rose from the floor and turned him around with a firm grip. DalRan could make out a clawed hand, clearly made to shred, this...thing..was like a phantom of some sort, DalRan fired a long burst at it and jumped back, able to escape the grip now. He got up and ran for the officers, the shadow following him.
Kurin mumbles as she sits on the floor. She knows what happens, she knows what is going on but she can't assist. Tonuse her power during a warpstorm like this would be foolish, even possibly fatal. She mumbles as she keeps her clawed hands together, mumbling , her body completely still except a faint breathing. She mumbles and shakes her head. Her golden and black hair flows around her face "A walking nightmare, that would be a fitting comparison"
The new threat had received its answer with shuriken fire. The noise of the cycler quickly cutting out crystalline disks and sending them forth. Making the whole hallway sounds like a some kind of Pleasure club and lighting up with Magenta flashes of light only further made it look like a club. This was not intended to hit the new fighter, but to figure out if any more of those wires were strung out. He would take note of them if this new one would want to get close. After a burst of enough shuriken to clear out a forest, Dunvel dropped the Catapult and drew his blade. The blade power field instantly activated once out of its cage. The Black fog now began to cover its user, providing some kind of viel. Dunvel looked like some kind of dark Apparition. The red glowing lenses only further reinforcing the image. "Come.... You know. Death is not the greatest loss in life. The greatest loss is what dies inside us while we live. The loss of the Soul is only true death. I appear here, Dunvel of the house Corane, as your soul's reaper and its Soulbane." Whether the Black smoke naturally covered it user was a mystery, it would be quite possible it was a mind trick....or worse.
- Etrigen He had met a combatant such as this before. The only Harliquin to have entered his ring. After defeating a number of worthy opponents, Etrigen had over confidently challange any who would meet him in the ring. A Death Jester had responded, wielding but a simply sword. 'This time, things will be different.' Etrigen pointed his spear at the Harlequin blocking his path. "Who are you? Where have your allies taken Zamehir, and why have you done this? Return him to me and I promises you will not be harmed." The weapon was ranged, in a tight corridor like this he stood little chance. However, his opponent would cause damage to the living quarters. "Don't you think fighting here is a bit impractical?"
A number of shadows began to follow after DalRan. Like a pack of wolves they tried to swarm the youth. The astral specters usually avoided direct confrontation, simply feeding from the shadows. Something has rilled them up and in the Warp Storms presence, they were living up to their reputations. Calypsa and her officers spotted DalRan, but they also saw the unnatural shadow creatures pursuing him. "Form a line and give him cover! Do not let them touch you! This way, hurry!" Calypsa called out to DalRan. They mostly possessed non-leathal anti-person weapons, crowed control, and detainment gear. Firing charged stun rounds at the creatures had little to no effect. Most passing right through. Only when the creatures emerged from the shadow in a three dimentional form did the weapons have an effect. They would lose integrity and fall back into the shadows. Calypsa met DalRan half way, brandishing an energy baton. She grabbed his arm and threw him past the formed barricade. One of the creatures emerged from the floor and took a bite into her leg. There was no physical damage, but her life force had been signifigantly diminished. If enough of the phantoms got you, you wouldn't last long and something much worse could come along to finish the job. "Get out of here and warn the Captain! There shouldn't be so many of these things inside. Somehow they're getting in! Now go!" Most of the shades decided to hunt the officers and weakend lieutenant. Follow her orders or stay and help them fight off the Astral Specters?
