Marine vs Marine using a bolter TTK of 2 seconds, melee seems way faster than that but we have no numbers.
Yeah I remember reading that it'l be long. I'm guessing it's gonna be between 2 and 3 seconds of sustained fire at close range (if the early gameplay vids are to go by) and probably around 1 second of sustained (unchecked) melee strikes. The quicker ttk for melee may be needed to keep them viable when there are 100(o) devastators instead of just 1.
If im getting f*cked by vehicles I might do a switch from Avenger to Fire Dragon if it gets really bad, but otherwise I cant see what I could do as the other classes I couldnt do as an Avenger.
Is it totally confirmed that you can switch classes on the fly? I haven't been a good little Eldar keeping up with updates and such. I kind of wished our characters were our characters, but I suppose the versatility is welcome and we can always choose to ignore it. I personally want a Banshee and Fire Dragon. (Warp Spider too, but I'm pretty sure the devs aren't too keen on those ;_
You cant switch on the fly but you can switch on death. Like in PS2 If my Avenger is hit too hard by Armor Im not going to hesitate to respawn as a Dragon, though I dont know if im going to have any use for the other classes personally.
For me Eldar has always been a "right tool for the right job" sorta army. I hope that they keep that feel in EC. Also hope how ever they implement the command structure it is accessible by every one in some way. Most people work or if VERY lucky can take a vacay' every once in a while. It would suck if some of the "officer cadre" went away and the whole faction founders because of it. I will change as needed as will all of us I would think. we arent tac marines.
While my main love among the Eldar might be the Scorpions, if the situation calls for it I'll happily change to a Fire Dragon if it's short to medium range or lots of enemy armour to deal with or Dark Reapers for long range assaults. Maybe if we need positional advantage or to plant a beacon or something that my Scorpion can't sneak to I'd go Hawk. Then again maybe my Scorpion can roll around in a Fire Prism and thus be his own mid/long range/ anti armour solution.
Although I do like to play the classes I enjoy most, ('Tis game - have fun), but winning can also be fun and for that you need a proper functioning army with the correct units for the situation. So yes, I would change.
