The game releases. It sells poorly. It gets poor reviews. It doesn't make a lot of money. They can't make any real money off DLC because the game doesn't have a large player base. They don't make much off cosmetics for the same reason. The developers can't pay the bills. The developers scramble to find a new IP with new investors to stay in business. They begin working on this IP as fast as possible in order to save their company. They abandon EC and stop updating it because it isn't making money. They do this because of capitalism and the need to supply their employees with a steady source of income (I don't blame them). They put this game behind them in order to survive. If you're an experienced gamer and you've supported indie projects on Kickstarter, you've seen this happen time after time. Sometimes the projects succeed and do well. Sometimes not and you end up in this situation. This happens with AAA games as well, although not as common. EC is somewhere between a AAA game title and an indie title in terms of funding, but I think we can agree it leans farther towards the indie side of things. I posted that this is the worst case scenario. Some of you might be optimistic about the game and its success. Some of you might not be. How do I feel? Frankly, idk. They might continue working on the game in hopes that it will sell better on consoles if it doesn't do well on PC. They might not even bring it to consoles because it bombs on the PC so hard that no publisher wants to take that risk. Or, it might do well on the PC and the devs might pull some of the most epic last second updates ever known to man. First of all, for the most part bE has been very good to their community and have been updating the game regularly. I was very optimistic for this game because I thought they'd have plenty of time to work on it. After all we're still in Alpha! Well not anymore. Is this bE's fault? NO. IT. ISN'T. This is clearly their publisher or investors pushing for them to release sooner for some quick cash. Anyways, that's my opinion. Do you agree or disagree? Please remain respectful of my opinion and others. I might be wrong. You might be wrong. Its an opinion, and while some have more educated opinions than others and not all opinions are equal, you should still be reasonable when dealing with each other because you're not going to change someone's mind by insulting them. Also lets say this thread gets off topic because of hate. Can we not lock it? I mean seriously, why is it the OPs fault if the thread gets off topic? Every discussion people have had about the release date has been locked. We have a right to discuss it and we shouldn't have that right taken away from us because some people like to go off chewing eachother apart on a forum. Thanks for reading and let me know what you think.
It will be what it will be. As long as I still have fun when I boot the game up I will continue to play until that feeling of fun diminishes or fades away completely, at which point I will move on to another game or fall back on ones I am still having fun with for greater periods of time. Right now I'm still having fun. At release I might still be having fun or I might not. I don't know, we're not there yet.
Well I've lost all faith I had in this game, things just got worse and worse and now this is actually happening. EC will either flopp in it's first months of release or just die off very slowly. I don't see how the devs can make this work as things are now, I don't think they got a Emperor class patch with loads of bug fixes and hot content they have been sitting on, waiting to release to save the game. I am beyond such optimism after these years. Now, I just wait for the coming doomsday while injecting salt into my veins straight from the forums.
Oh cool, another thread. I wonder if this one will be locked as well. Do you believe Eternal Crusade's Launch will go smoothly and the game will have a future? poll
This community...good grief. How about instead of doom and glooming we start getting excited about clans and guilds finally getting to fight for real and not half assing it in a character wiping alpha? Nothing insightful comes from these threads, we've ALL seen games fail. We don't need a play by play breakdown that's regurgitating 3 previous threads.
I'm sorry, where did I say to shut up? I'm merely pointing out that negative people repeating the same "worries" over and over and over and over isn't getting anything fixed, isn't helping spread any positive word about the game(which actually is still pretty fun even in it's current state, do you even play right now?), and again, you guys aren't saying anything that hasn't been said about countless other games in alpha/beta forums. This is a PvP game. This game will succeed or fail largely dependent on how good the community is, yes a functioning game is clearly a boon to success but without a good community PvP games are DOA. Right now this community is going down the toilet for no other reason than some peoples jimmies got rustled over a launch date that we KNEW was coming for quite awhile now.
Seems like unnecessary thread. Everything was told already. Waiting for patch and livestream before I will post any more comments.
How about a "Let's wait an see" Attitude everyone? It's not like anyone of us will get our money back if we jump of the Train soon enough We allready paid for it, so let's see what happens. If it's good, jay! If it's not, well, happens. I allready put over 450 hours into that game, worth the investment i made to be honest
I m still waiting to see those devastator pistols and/or that AS healing beam targeting getting fixed. So i woulld think that this is not a wise thing to do with this company.
