Exactly: if the game cannot find a fight with european players, they will be re-routed to the american server. The ping issue is a direct consequence of the problem we have with population.
You know there was a thread a few days ago where Nathan was talking back and forth to some people over the servers. And basically the devs know their paid for quality connections from amazon, and they aren't getting them. So they are looking into what to do about the server stuff.
You can't get quality connections from Virginia if you live in EU, no matter how much you pay. It basically comes down to physics... I guess it's a bit much to take in all at once.
They explained a before that there can be servers in EU, but there needs to be players in their to justify it's existence. If they did have servers in EU there would be no one really to play with, so they made a choice. Play with lag or not play at all.
I would happily join "Any Faction" if it ensured me a match on an EU Server, just to try it for once. Just giving me this option in the EU prime time and it would be nice, as I could play a few games without lag and then go back the Eldar afterwards.
It makes sense but it's far from good business sense. You're basically giving the finger to anyone who lives in Europe, Russia, South America, Asia, or Australia.
