Though I'm not a massive RP'er I'd like to see it in the game, it would add flavour.

I wouldn't expect to see it during the heat of battle, but perhaps in more peaceful zones or en-route to the front lines you can squeeze in a rallying speech or two.

RPing is a minority sub-genre hobby, dont expect it to be anything else here either.
Especially the more performance and objective orientated players tend to dislike the long RP jabbering, in the less hectic situations it can provide ample comedy and fun.

Find a guild/outfit/whatever where people RP together and you might get your jollies out of it :)

Agreed. RP'ing is unlikely to happen in PvP games and when it does happen it's likely to be a hindrance (Military "realism" outfits in game where you can respawn within seconds can fuck right off).

This seems like an excessively large percentage for a race that will mostly consist of players who are unwilling to pay for the game/trying it out to see if it's worth getting.
PvP games contain little RP elements as explained by TARL.

I doubt there will be many mods, and I sincerely doubt they will punish the players critical of RP.

Honestly, if you want to RP do it within a guild contained within their Voice server because I'll strangle the commanders trying to command battles in a RP manner (and likely cock up in the process).

I do hope they'll punish those who grief RPer's ingame though.

The whole point of RPing is to interact with the environment as a whole. Not just other people. Telling the RPer's to go isolate themselves is rather wrong. That said, if they're doing it to be annoying, then mute them. Chances are they'll only be talking to their squad though.

Mind, I only plan to do text RPing.

As someone not interested in RPing myself aside from the occasional very light versions just not taking on a persona for my character. If I see RP happening I'll think to myself "Oh cool." then carry on and try not to disturb them. One time in WoW 2 RPers engaged me for whatever reason (turned out one had an alt in my guild) a very brief exchange where I had no idea what to do ended with me saying "Uh, right. Oh look! That tree needs my aid! *mounts up and runs off*" Last thing I heard before getting out of range was "Poor Blood Elf thinks he's of the Night variety." "Indeed. Perhaps there is latent magic in the trees? For now let's let him enjoy his madness." lol. (For the record I know Blood Elves aren't like that. I just said the first thing that came to mind.)

RP away I say (unless you're Dark Angels closet traitor business and think it's a good idea to shoot friendlies after CSM spawn a Fallen hero. Things will escalate quickly). Not sure how it would work in EC but as said in Jurassic Park "Life finds a way." Play the game however you want especially if you paid for it. But if people complain that RPers aren't contributing. Then both sides should just carry on. People take games too seriously sometimes and forget that it's just that, a game. I would also think that new players have no idea what ork RPers are saying and that amuses me lol. In light of that, keep in mind sudden RP could catch people off guard with potential to raise confusion. Especially with Ork speak (Orkish? Orkeneze?). Or find a new comrade then together chant "One of us One of us One of us"

As for preventing such a stupid thing as "troll parties", same thing that prevents stupid people from doing other stupid things. Punishments for team killing and the option to report repeat offenders. Though I don't know how a report saying "These guys are interrupting our RP session by doing silly things around us." would fly. Well, they're not playing the game but instead ruining another persons experience so they're in the wrong. If worse comes to worse can form up "sheriff group" like in H1Z1. Not effective in stopping it at all but amusing to me (Dance puppets dance! amuse me!). Let mods handle it.

I remember once someone during a raid who didn’t answer the simple question whatever he was dps, tank or healer because he was “roleplaying” an enchanter, the stupid fool even gave us a fictional background when asked what role he was actually going to do in the group.

The thing is that I am actually in fact a roleplayer myself and I have been in outfits and units/organizations in various games that breaks apart some of the arguments some people have above to pieces but I do understand why they have their views.

There are too many roleplaying styles to put “us” all in one category but there is definitely some who would spend all day jabbering.

Exactly. Most RPers I know get the job done first and only talk about it once everything is said and done. I don't think my clan and I will RP much in this game, though. It will likely lack a lot of the features that other games have to facilitate it. (Speech bubbles for one.)
  9. aside from talking like the race I'm playing (and making crude noises when I play eldar) I don't think I'll get TO into roleplaying, probably wont be sitting in the base talking as much as I go out on the field and scream glories to the dark gods.
  10. I, as an Imperial Guardsman, have no idea what you guys are on about. How are you all going to play pretend when there's Eldar around? Have you ever seen an Eldar?! I sure haven't, and it was what we didn't see that got my whole unit killed!
