But thats the thing it isn't feature complete and the developers have said this many times. Right now all they have is pretty much a combat sand box to test gameplay, with some simple objectives. They don't have: - Tyranids at all - All 4 races - Anywhere near the landmass intended - only simple objective based tests - The models are just placeholders Its all still very experimental tbh. Alpha implies the 'core' of the game is ready. Which it clearly is not! EDIT: I don't know why they are showing us this tbh. Their goal is 'transparency'. I think I'd be happier not seeing this footage!
I could refute what you're saying with dev posts, but w/e. I'd rather the game spoke for itself when it actually gets worked on. All we know is that Miguel has told us the game is just going into production.
Coming from someone who actually works in industry, He's talking utter shit. It's a Proof of Concept built, those models? Throwaways, Those animations? Throwaways. Every studio has builds like these. It's just some uninformed idiot spouting shit that he has absolutely no first hand experience with.
Agreed, I just can't be bothered to argue with these kind of people who haven't been following the game long and like to jump to conclusions and assume they are all of a sudden an authority.
I guess we can assume they are throw away builds, while you can assume they are not. End of the day, we will see who was right when they announce Alpha status. Alpha status is something they have not announced, therefore no judgement made in this thread is 100% accurate. As I said before, they have just begun developing Alpha.
Who ? behavior does it. Oh they are the first? oh i am sorry that you were bruned so many times in the past. But dont let your frustration loose on behavior. They said they want to be transparent, and they are. They show us what they did already, and will show us more down the road to 2015. Why? Because they can. And because they want our feedback. They said this over and over and over again. And they didnt make these animations, just for us to let us see what they are doing. These videos are there so they can test. Didnt you see the grayboxes? Yeah...does are defently in game, the clunky animation that are not finished. sure that also will be so. Dont be ridiculous.
I'm a rational adult. They don't need to hide things from me. I would rather see the progress as it is and in whatever shape or form. Now about the comments from the OP around the 'net. THQ was going to do a better job with the IP? Are they f'n kidding me? That's gotta be a joke. No. This is WAY more true to the IP, than a two faction Themepark WoW wannabe. Dark Millennium had train wreck written all over it. One of the main reasons I'm backing this is because of what I've seen so far in the videos. I see potential and I like that they are being open with their development. I then looked at the factions they are including in the game from the onset. They went with the old school big 5. No offense to the IG faction - they belong right there as well. If I had to pick 5 factions though, these would be the ones I would pick. But the real clincher for me was them deciding to make the Tyranids AI controlled. It tells me two things. 1) they understand and respect the IP greatly. 2) they will make game design decisions based on the IP. The 'net can go take a flying leap. They don't have a clue what would make a good WH40k game. Glad the ones that are actually making it seem to have a pretty good idea. Here's hoping.
I couldn't care less about uneducated opinions but I do have to admit their impact on the game's publicity and popularity is something that is worth caring about. This really is a common sentiment out there and I see it all the time. I hope Miguel follows through on what he said about a price cut and we get better videos as we go along or sheer word of mouth will hurt the game more than any true mistakes ever could.
This is my primary concern for the game. They really need to start showing that this is the MMO they are hyping it up to be.
