Decided to visit some other gaming sites today & see what they thought of the Eternal Crusade founders program as well as their response to the available pre-alpha footage so far. While much of it misinformed/negative, it is important as it is how the rest of the internet gaming community perceives Eternal Crusade "thus far".

I love Behavior's policy on open transparency & hopefully comments like below do not dissuade them from continuing that policy. What can Behavior do going forward to improve its public image & change some of the more negative feedback below into constructive positive feedback?

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Warhammer MMO before this was a HUGE letdown and that was from a studio I thought had the ability to do it right. So with this developer, I have NO faith they will do this IP any justice at all, and based on their track record and footage here....I mean...really?

The developers are gong big on a transparency push. They want the people really interested in the game to see how everything's shaping up and have an input about it. They show this stuff off all the time in their emails about the game. It's not a push to get you to buy the game, it's not a trailer or anything. It's just them showing what's happening so far with the game. Put it this way, would you rather have more information than less.

I know it's alpha, but man it looks bad.I think they're better off not even showing these - what was the point?

Even for alpha, this game seems unimpressive. Let me see something a little better fleshed out and then I will make a reasonable judgement.

So much nope. I've had the fortune (or misfortune?) over the years to find out that MMOs developers/publishers try to make the most money they can upfront with tricks like this, get people to put a big chunk of money up front, and then continue to milk things way past release. Almost everyone who takes the this bait with an early purchase, big-spending commitment end up regretting it. Long story short, DON'T DO IT.

    So, basically Pay2Win.
God, the Game Industry is just pure trash, nowadays.

I’m impressed that Eternal Crusade have incorporated the “Forge World selling out early” aspect of the hobby

While I'm not as negative as that guy is, I have to agree 100% with that quote.
  3. Your first mistake was expecting anything constructive from the Internet.

I don't take pretty much anything that was said there seriously except the second quote.

While the comments on the high prices of somethings is justified but people asking for a vertical slice because whats here is ugly. Well this is the ugly truth of what games look like when being made, stop asking for beautiful lies and get educated on the ugly truth.
  5. I for one have faith in BeHaviour. They have good ideas and are going in a good direction with the game. Only time will tell as we get closer to release how the game will shape up. For that matter... Warhammer Online although it was not great I still got a few months play out of it? So if you ask me it was money well spent. I have no regrets on most of the video games i have bought... Diablo 3 yes, but that was my own fault haha. I hyped myself up so much on that i bought 3 CE versions one for me one for my wife and one to stay wrapped and worship forever. I got max lvl and quit. It wasn't what i had dreamed they would do with that game.. it was ok. But even that game i still got a good month out of it or so. If i hadn't i would have been board and bought something even more stupid and usless. So again im sure i will have no regrets on the money i invested in this game in order to play alpha/beta.

Besides iv spent most of my time playing Smite which i paid 30 bucks for all the gods a year and a half ago. So im due for a little money investment on a game.

I try to take everyone's input account regardless how unconstructive it may be. While its very possible some of the comments were trolls, I'd wager many of them at the very least had interest in the setting. They took the time to watch the pre-alpha gameplay & comment. I mostly just took comments at random & looking back I should have made sure to grab some feedback from people who checked out the Rogue Trader/Founder Store.

Their feedback largely resonated with that of polls made here in that most people were not satisfied with the current price model. I'm sure BeHaviour has taken this into account & will make adjustments in the future.

As far as Alpha gameplay footage yeah I am not sure what people were expecting. Like Matt stated above, most people aren't aware of just how much work goes into game development & the early stages aren't much to look at. That said, I do very much expect a complete overhaul in terms of graphics later on to compete with other titles such as Planetside 2 etc.

Pretty much everyone outside this small forum community has derived that this game is all about 'P2W' and bE are 'le happy merchant' who are just taking money from ignorant 'shills' (us). Oh then everyone else thinks this 'game looks like shit even for alpha' and 'it doesn't have X army, wnb'.

TLDR bE have a long long road ahead of them. Things will get easier once they start actually delivering.

EDIT: I'm still not convinced about the quality of the game myself at all. But I've committed myself to buying at least the founders pack since I'm a 40k fan. As many have said, if this was not 40k I would not invest a penny. I'm not stupid enough to believe developers promises without any external factors influencing my decision (40k).
