It's a kind of vocabulary misunderstanding here I suppose. Most people have on their minds a part of a factual map\territory cut out and adapted for the early access, maybe sth like we saw in pre-alpha video but they reffer to it as 'arena' and well, whether you want it or not in this way you do create a kind of arena - a closed section of teritory cut out from a ready made map. We shouldn't argue about the terms, the most important thing imo is that this 'arena' or whatever it's called is big enough to encompass enough players to make the tests valid + give us a glimpse of the game scale.
I agree that 'Arena PvP' merits very little use in terms of testing a game where the goal is mass warfare. Any feedback they would get would be covered by any other PvP based test. Like I said, SCENARIOS - i.e. 1-2 objectives, different constructs to use as cover and two different teams is certainly a valid test scenario. Another example may be to try it with 4 different teams to see how that pans out. These allow us to test how capturing/defense mechanics would work on an objective basis as well as test the combat out. Particularly with jetpacks and objective capturing strategies. Things like that make sense as quick fire release modules for testing combat mechanics. Obviously over time we would have progressively larger scenarios leading to a full beta.
Btw I think the vote poll is a bit misleading, because it could be more simplier: PVP-PVE-Other with description
I mean that the PVE leads but in overall more ppl want to see PVP , just the form of PVP is not decided yet
i didn't mean that the module is decided, just said if someone checks the poll he can see the ppl want PVE, but in overall the PVP got more votes
I believe what he is trying to say is that by including 1 option for the PVE "dungeons with tyranids" and several different options that are different but still PVP you are skewing the poll because it is almost certain even though things are not decided yet that an alpha/beta model will be some sort of PVP battle. Which is what everyone wants to play and mainly what the game will offer. I personally would not pay founder's if they are going to offer me a procedural created dungeon for me to troll over and over again.. I want to go crazy on a battle field and have fun with other players. That being said I think the poll was a great idea but can't be used as real representation of what people want.
