I know that this has been talked about somewhere before. But is anyone aware of the dev's acknowledging the issue that i know not everyone has? It seemed pretty split last time i was reading about it. Some people feel getting killed in less than a second is a good thing. And yes...i do suck. But surely not everyone who feels we are dying too fast sucks like me eh? =P
If you're playing tactical, stay in cover. If you're playing devastator, stay in the back. If you're playing air assault, stay mobile. If you're playing ground assault, be sneaky and don't charge frontally unless you have to. If you're playing support, stay little behind tacticals. If you're running on open areas, expect swift death. Survivability is fine and comes from positioning and awareness of your surroundings as well as minimap. If you're dying too fast, 90% of the time you're in the spot you shouldn't be, remaining 10% is predator gunner exploiting long range.
I still think the time to kill for a space marine is far too quick, for a space marine you'd imagine that they'd be more durable than that.
To actually answer your Question: The devs are aware of the feelings of the playerbase, but I wouldn't say they acknowledge the Issue. That would imply they agree with the people who think its too low. Also they do not talk much about it. So yeah, I guess they could imrove there. Atleast let the people know where they stand. (As for if it is too low or not: You might think that you die faster then you actually do. Because of lagg/latency. Watch some Streams and see if the players there also die as fast as you. For the Spacemarine argument: They also shoot with bolters, you would imagine Spacemarine Bolters to kill really fast. But anyway: Gameplay > Books.)
Until Eldar and Orks are in, all we've got is Marines vs Marines. There are slight differences between the two at the minute, but not enough to really say that people are dying too fast. A lot of the complaints seem to be "This isn't like the Space Marine game" which is dumb, or along the lines of "Space Marines are super invincible and should never die, because my fragile ego can't take my self-insert being anything other immortal and perfect". Like Lerdoc says, a lot of this comes down to awareness and positioning - which can be a little annoying as the cover system still feels clunky and unfinished - at least to my mind. Try to stick with your squad and play complimentary roles - if everyone's a Traitor/Tactical then your ability to respond to a variety of threats is severely reduced. Don't run absolutely everywhere as well, that's one I've learnt the hard way several times. It may take you longer to get there, but that's better than running all that way to be insta-killed as you - literally - ran into an obvious ambush.
Considering the fluff? Unless you wear the plot armor, the average space marine power armor makes little difference to anything but non massed las guns, autoguns and orkz dakkaz.
I think the TTK is perfect right where it is. The Devs have really hit a sweet spot with this... I do not want to see it messed up. Yeah... Power Armor is supposed to be a big deal... but look at the firepower we are playing with here... Plasma should eat through it like butter... The Bolter is not a .223 caliber round... its .75 lol... its no slouch and it still takes what... half a mag dump to bring a Marine down? Raising the TTK would imbalance the game. Assault classes already get in your face really quickly... upping TTK across the board would only really buff that class. I think this line of thought would be a mistake. The game is really in a good spot balance wise. I love it.
Actually, you can't die too quickly. Especially if you keep in mind that you are not the Emperor himself. You just need to follow Lerdoc's advises.
