Before the Horus Heresy began, the Dreadclaw was the most advanced assault boat in service with the Space Marine Legions or the fleet of the Imperial Army during the Great Crusade. However, its design by the Adeptus Mechanicus was flawed. When the Dreadclaw's on-board cogitator was interfaced with the extensive array of navigation Auspexes and logic engines present on an Imperial starship, its Machine Spirit began to develop a dangerous and unexpected level of self-awareness. The launch bays and maintenance decks of Imperial warships outfitted with complements of Dreadclaws began to suffer from a suspiciously high number of fatal accidents and malfunctions, which, despite the reassurances provided by the Mechanicus Tech-priests, soon lead to rumours that the Dreadclaws' Machine Spirits were cursed in some way. I like the idea of the dreadclaw being a squad based assault lander, one that would actually crush whoever you landed on.
Right but in my army i like it when the enemy drops in front of my 35 man zombie squad, saves them the time to shuffle across the board but drop pod for use would be nice.
Seems like a great idea to me. I mean the Orks have their Roks, the Eldar have WebWays and Warp Spiders. Who says Space Marines and Chaos can't have their drop pods? Though personally, I think they should have blind drops with the pods. Be more interesting too see WHERE I land once I get out of the Pod.
I like this, honestly. Not sure how the camera angles would work what with a third person view. But I really like this.
Definately Dreadclaws! They were used for ship to ship boarding actions as well, and if I'm not mistaken, were able to recover themselves from the planet's surface. If you look at the forge world model, it hits the ground, then raises itself up on its legs, and the marines drop through a hole in the floor. For boarding actions, that hole in the floor is ringed with teeth which saw through a ships hull after the legs pierce the ship. How is any of that not cool!
Aye, dreadclaws are one of the few self-recoverable(?) drop assaults as far as I'm aware. They're also semi-sentient. (more so now that most of the chaos legions have spent so much time in the warp, no doubt some of the dreadclaws AI has merged with daemons)
i like the pod assault, but not as big a fan of the warp portal, would rather see u and your teams pick a spot and get deepstriked into the fight on that spot with scatter, little chance of spawn killing then. Just make it so pods can drop anywhere into enemy territory so the enemy has time to react after seeing the pod, but deepstriking would only let you jump into the front lines or friendly territory since the enemy has no warning. But u can deepstrike onto an ally carrying a beacon anywhere could also work
It will be interesting if dreadclaws were used and also our version of the stormraven gunship, Or for sorcerer's to appear from a personal warp portal
