So, back in Early Access, Banshees ran even faster than Eldar. This super fast run speed broke a lot of things and was reverted upon Banshee release. However I liked the premise of different Eldar move speeds. So I was thinking, what if we did the reverse. To differentiate the roles of Banshees and Scorpions, what if Scorpions got an armour buff. To about 135 (same as a reaper) the Fire Dragon could also get this buff as well. But in exchange, Scorpions and Dragons moved slower. Maybe not as slow as a Space Marine, but somewhere in between. This would help with suicide orangutan problems, and I feel it would help distinguish the brawler role of Scorpions. Thoughts?
I understand your desire to have some better defined differences between the Banshee and the Scorpion this way. banshees seem to be doing it tough (personal observation from someone without a lot of exp in-game). The armour of Fire Dragons, Dark Reapers and Striking Scorpions should be the same to start with. Having the Fire Dragons and Striking Scorpions with lower armour is a dumb idea that bE should fix regardless. Moving on to the movement difference. I agree somewhat. I think the Banshee should have a small buff and the Fire Dragon and Striking Scorpion should have a small decrease. But as you say, they should still be faster then the other factions. Dark Reapers are not slower just because of their armour, it is also due to the dirty great big guns they carry around. They might has suspensors, but they are awkward. This means FD and SS should be faster than them.
If they get some decent armour and even cheaper ones too, a MoS marine still would beat them in every single front bar basic hitbox size.
33% increase normally with a 15% sprint speed increase, the same as MoS just with a more lethal cost of 50 health Except Dark Reapers who have to pay 50 health and 300lp for a similar stat while still being slightly slower in basic move speed I believe
It's a very risky proposition to make Scorpions any slower. It's already very hard to sneak up on someone if they're running away from you. It could be done, but it would need a modification of the Scorpion's 'sneak' attack so it does no bonus damage from 'stealth', but does more bonus damage on a backstab.
I'd sooner make Banshees faster than I'd make reapers, fire dragons and scorpions slower. Reapers already have a problem synergising with other eldar, they move a bit slower, cant climb the same stuff, require a set-up time or good firing spot and dont even get me started on the teamkill potential of the tempest launcher.
Find a way to give banshee's a dash to gap-close better and I would be VERY happy. maybe a move speed buff tied to their scream?
