I would never support depending on luck. You do something to the best of your ability. Sometimes you're unlucky and things go wrong. Sometimes your level of skill is adequate. Other times you're against something way more than you can take and still walk away somehow.
Hmm, in this case a regular marine would have to be extremely lucky to make it out in one piece with his armour saves, even terminator would be in deep trouble. Summing up, 1 chance for 100 for a marine.
I'm not really seeing where you're disagreeing with what we're saying. Luck is an integral part of all things 40k. It's definitely in the pen and paper games. The element of luck is still there.
Ofc but in the afore mentioned situation it's like counting on luck while watching an elephant stomping your head, it's this kind of luck.
None of us have ever said you should count on luck. It doesn't feel like luck if you can count on it.
Actually I did the maths. Two assault cannons would only take out ~2 Marines (it's that AP4 that's the problem). In the game, I suppose against a bob-standard Tactical, then yeah, the Dreadnought would win, but that's not taking into account cover and approach. The Dreadnought should win most of the time, but the Marine should have some way to take it out or at least get away from it in most scenarios. Anyway, I think this game will have things for "noobs" in the form of Tyranid PvE content. PvE is generally easier than PvP, but you'd still be contributing to the war effort!
I don't know what kind of maths you did but I had a different one at school, you forgot about RENDING on 6 . A single tac wouldn't stand any chance if he was in range of this dread, unless he had some heavy weapon ofc.
Everyone hates seeing their treasured game becoming dumbed down- a steep learning curve is good a for a game, but the game should be fairly accessible by new players. They may not exactly be leading the charge, but I would like to see everyone have a satisfying time on the battlefield, perhaps as common soldeirs- without spending their life in the game.
