Lots of time tonight, getting beatin by SM fast attack spam, often while def bashing back. I kept getting clashes? Is this supposed to happen? Does weapon type matter? I know i was doing the bash properly. Few other notes.... 1 .Club. Why is it even in the game? It does same damage as SM axe, but is about 3x slower. 2, Klaw. Why is it even in the game? It attacks 10x slower then PF, and does same damage. Isnt Klaw supposed to be PF equal? How can it be so poorly broken? How does this not get fixed in beta? Seems power swords, axes, and PF are the only viable weapons as ot relates to orks chaos and SM. Also, why does "roll" work in melee? For instance,I get the jump on a "bolter" and hit him....he then rolls backward while my 2nd attack clips through his body. He then walks backward and lights me up. Shouldnt roll only work if you are NOT HAVING A WEAPON SLICE THROUGH YOUR BODY? You didnt really dodge it did you? Just rename roll "100% to evade damage" Basically. as a slugga i have to achieve melee close quarters to win...but now a ranged person can roll and be 100% hit free...created space, and finish me off. Where is my "dash" to "avoid all bullets" to close the distance? Dont say roll, cause he can walk backwards faster then I can roll.
Your best bet as a slugga is the good ol' choppa. The axe one. I haven't ever bothered with the club, but the klaw doesn't work that well in melee without a lot of practice except as an ambush weapon. That's the only time you can use the insanely long power attack windup to your advantage and instant kill unsuspecting enemies. The choppa axe functions pretty much like a power sword and is much easier to use, I would recommend using that instead. Also get the dakka slugga, it works great for suppressing ranged enemies while you close the gap or for finishing off runners. Rolling does not negate melee damage, or at least it hasn't for me. I've killed and have been killed mid-roll on numerous occasions. Could be lag, could be the fact that I don't use the slow weapons.
Melee weapons are imo messed up. Some clearly perform better than others, and some are definitely too good even if they cost more LP. Instead of having different choices for different situations / scenarios / loadouts we typically have 1-2 weapons perfect for everything. Just look at LSM: 90% use the Power Sword. It has speed, damage and penetration... why should they choose something else? Against those the club is just useless. That's ok lore-wise but it's definitely frustrating from a gameplay point of view.
Actually, in terms of LSM and CSM both, I have seen a large increase in power fist use, and an increase in axe and maul use, over the power sword.
Pretty much this usually as far as chaos its JPA with power fist or axe. I use whatever floats my boat at the time right now its power axe and chain sword.
Dbash has been brought up and acknowledged so many times now and yet is still completely borked I don't think we will ever see it working as intended.
Its doubly worse for Orks. Marines have an infinite get out of jail free card cheat dodge roll in that they can 100% negate all Dbashes. Orks can't do it even 1/4th as much as the other races.
Well right now it connects slightly better than 2 months ago. The problem is the gap between classes is such that one often doesn't even want to try the RPS. Once you are under a hailstorm of sword lunges why bother? You're likely to be dead anyway.
