Do you feel 40k atmosphere in maps ?

    Sure, the "style" is WH40K.

The maps, however, are deathmatch arena maps. They are designed as such. Even Harkus is just a weird building filled with unidentified clutter, weird walls, stairways that lead to nowhere etc basically stuff that serve no discernible purpose.

There is nothing organic in the maps. Everything is just cover for the deathmatch to take place around. Where are the living quarters? Ammunition storages? Cogitators? Toilets even? Nothing like that. It's just random clutter.

So yeah while the art style is pretty good, unfortunately it's just skin deep.
  2. Not really.
Its kinda uninspired compared to.. any other 40k game.
They dont even really feel like they're part of a larger world.. or that the world has been inhabited for more than a year.

Covering a wall with skulls and stuff is.. ok.. But its kinda just done in an extremely bland way.

    Look at this.

Honestly it feels like these are newly discovered worlds that the Imperium sent dysfunctional architects to so they could get rid of them. The architects then built random structures everywhere in a way so people could fight each other and be on equal terms as some kind of training program, then decided they were crap so they bombed the structures, missing completely and using very weak missiles, which just ended up destroying the weakest and most poorly made sections.
Thats the just of it anyways.

Some propaganda posters would be pretty cool.
    Iconography is definitely welcome.
Any small thing that could add extra detail to the world would definitely help out.

My main concern is the architecture in general.
Need to just grab every asset and drag it out until its at least 2x its current size.

  3. Yes it feels like walking through a movie studio/town. At first you think this it looks so great but when you get a closer look you quickly realize its all a flat sided coulisse. It needs more grit, dirt spent ammo, the correct light or illumination, more writings and signs, posters, big war machines and titans walking and battling in the backdrop, the occasional Thunderhawk, Ork Bommer and Nightwing passing by. Streaks of Drop Pods falling from the sky, huge silhouettes of battle cruisers and strike cruisers in the sky and explosions on the sky as signs of void war and many many many many many more things to create the real 40k atmosphere.

The newly re-done maps go into the right direction but still need waaay more love for details to feel right and not just like random lobby shooter with a stretched thin 40k skin.

    where is this promised atmosphere?

I know it's all concept art but I like that concept and I don't see that now.

    Priorities for me are:
    1. 40k atmosphere, art style, voice acting, music and being true to the lore
    2. Purpose in missions and for buildings...why is the cap point in that building, why do we need to take that?
    3. Character development
    4. Fun team-play shooter

It is certainly feeling more like it with the new revamps of the map in the latest patch. Blackbolt in particular. The Storm Raven and anti aircraft missiles thing going on in that map, it properly feels like you have just deployed. I'm not sure if it would be doable or not but it would be great to see flyer battles going on over head on that map.

The air is too clear... We need stuff like sandstorms at Olipsis and Blackbolt, more clouds at Torias, snow at Pegasus etc. Seeing all the broken but otherwise clean structures all the way across the map just feels wrong.
Add in a mix of purple warp clouds and lightning and whatever other faction-specific mutators are in the pipeline, for that extra bit of grimy 40k filth.

    TLDR: I want more dirt.

Just played the new map twice (my queue ends up with Torias 90% of the time)...where is it located at Attacker DZ?
  7. Weather effects and other mutators would be good..
Already had them in pre-alpha, day-night cycle too.
I wouldn't mind dropping into a match at night time, during a storm etc etc, even if its the same map with a different time/effect each que.
    That would be great.

I think it's a storm raven. It's either that or a similar looking one. It's white coloured and in the deployment zone of the team that is assaulting to the left I think near one of the tank spawning zones. Great model as well and you can even go inside it. :D

If you are defending and can get on the front walls near A you should be able to see it.
