Okay we know who the big guns are, the Imperial Guard have been confirmed already and since the Tyranids are NPCs at launch, some of the work for them is already done, but what about the less popular/known and more specialized armies in WH40K? I think it would be great if we saw some relatively obscure forces/elements of the background reflected as a playable faction, at least one included early on for the sake of variety, so in terms of lesser seen guys, what would be the most popular choices here? Let me know what you think of... Seems I can't make a Poll thread, so I'll just list them instead: Adeptus Mechanicus: Grey Knights/Ordo Malleus: Eldar Exodites: Harlequins: Genestealer Brood-Cult: Gue'vessa (human Tau supporters/secular cultists): Rogue Traders (with potentially very varied private armies): Navigator Houses (similar): Unaligned Space Pirates/Mercs (some overlap with both of the above two choices, as well): Something/somebody else (specify)?
Big fan of the Hrud. But problem is we don't know much how they fight: - They have some cloaking-mechanism making them hard to hit. - poisoned claws, plasma-fusils, no armour, no known classes - time/space-distortions and entropy-fields that can kill whole planets I see the Hrud more as a huge faceless threat than as a faction.
Maybe Necrons Tau with kroot vespid and possibly human deserters Sisters of Battle hopefully Daemons of the Warp
mechanicus and grey knights would be cool. mechanicus are passive aggressive enough toward the imperium that something could spark military action, and grey knights have a "No Witnesses" policy for people who see them, but they need daemons to warrant a visit.
AM could be very interesting. I would vote Genestealer Brood if I could, I still think they are an awesome concept, but Navigator House private armies would be cool as well. Some of the best ideas were ones GW never explored to their full potential, IMO.
