I just watched a gameplay video of some space marines using power fists. The animations were so smooth as he went from charging power attacks, sprints, and fast attacks. No weird stutter, or your model needing to awkwardly reset itself into an attack pose. Also, every animation was what seems to me to be twice as fast as the orks current klaw. I checked the videos to see if i was mistaken and see if this is how the massive power weapons are supposed to work. Nope. If the powerfist is so great looking and seemingly easy to use why is the our iteration of what should be the same thing such a wonk fest? Right now it's barely holding on to a loadout slot because its the only thing to kill vehicles before paint dries.
Klaw right now is only good for ganking people who do not see you. Which is easy kill on anyone. Otherwise if you do the power up animation on an opponent you are fighting, they just dodges away and have tea while they wait for it to fire which lands you perfectly in front of them and defenseless.
Well to be fair the klaw is relatively new. I doubt that is stays the same for any length of time if the devs keep working on the game as intended.
I'll take a slower power attack with an insane sprint attack over the PF's "usable" power attack and average sprint. Asymmetrical balance ftw, at least I'm hoping the Devs did this on purpose.
I just want a functioning fast attack on klaw. Once that works it'd be easier to evaluate its balance.
I can fast attack, but even if I'm bumping the target it doesn't seem to connect or do damage. No sound effect, and the target never seems to go down. Only dash attacks seem to connect. I was told in chat that the fast attack is still bugged regarding determining whether the hit connects or not. Maybe I'm mistaken, but it sure feels like it compared to when I equip any other melee weapon. No problem getting to the top of the leaderboard with any of my other weapons. With power klaw I'm lucky to get a couple kills.
No it does not. It does something and it's better than what it was, but what it does is not what "working" means. OR, if this is what it is intended to do then fine, it works but it's still worst thing in ork arsenal.
I played with this a little bit last night and the fast attack seems good, will have to measure the time difference between the Klaw strong attack and Power Fist strong attack, but they don't seem way off. Regardless, it's doubtful that you're squeezing a strong attack out in the middle of an intense fight, not without a couple of seconds' relief or setup anyway. To be honest, the Klaw's dash attack is WAY better in that it covers far more distance (same goes for the Storm Boy dash-attack). So if anything, the Klaw is better at chasing enemies down when you're accurate with said dash attack. Without further testing, I'll reserve judgement, but I've always found fists semi lackluster for straight-up ground-pounder classes (Sluggas / Ground Assault). I tend to get the most use out of them when I have the option of jumping away and then dash-attacking back at my enemy to open them up for some more hittin'. Regardless, I played a few rounds last night with both My SMASH (Slugga w/ Shield) and CRASH (Stormboy w/ Fuel/Recharge Wargrear upgrades) builds which are built around the Klaw and seemed to be doing alright. I was able to interrupt a Space Marine's power attack with it's fast attack and bash their fast attacks while following up with a fast-Klaw for massive damage, but it's just a slower weapon (which you'll pay for if you're ever in a 1 vs many situation, faster weapons are better for that). I'll do some more testing, but thus far it's behavior doesn't seem surprising (though I am curious about any time difference on strong attack charge-up vs power fist). I will say this, I had a moment where a tactical marine was trying to get away from me and I back-handed him with the fast attack into a wall...the hit itself downed him, but it also thudded his body against said wall (which was a few feet away), where his downed body fell and slumped down in a corner. It was glorious, and it wasn't even a strong attack.
