Same with Aspect Warriors, I believe. You were maybe thinking of them relative to Imperial Guard (who are the Imperium's Guardian-analogue). I think they're WS3 BS3.
i would like them go melee 100% with dire sword and shemmer shield it would be great , sadly only their exarch use dire sword and shemmer shield
The point is not to receive a massive upgrade, thus it's best just to use a simple Non-Scorpion, plain Eldar Chainsword instead of something with a higher stat profile. Eldar Chainswords are very elegant weapons because of their Eldar craftmanship. Avengers can fill the Guardian role if bE allows them to stick with and upgrade their default ranged load-out or focus on melee such as with a Chainsword.
Eldar Chainswords are not specifically mentioned in the lore. They are called close company weapons which can come in many shapes. If they exists, what is the weapon profile? What makes it different from the Scorpion Chainsword? What makes it better than a Close Combat Weapon mentioned in the Codex? Why should a Dire Avenger have access to it?
Answers! As of 7th edition, Chainswords are equivalent to close combat weapons. They are both Strength User/AP -. Scorpion chanswords are Strength +1/AP 6. Storm guardians are equipped with a close combat weapon, which in the GW models is depicted as a chainsword. So yes, regular eldar chainswords are implied to exist, and they are different from Scorpion chainswords. Here's some more information! There is a rule that states, "If a model is not specifically stated as having a weapon with the Melee type, it is treated as being armed with a single close combat weapon." pg 526, 7e rulebook. There's a background to this. Space marine tacticals are not listed with a CCW, so players argued about whether they could actually fight in melee. GW released a statement detailing that a space marine tactical carries a combat knife, and that is what he uses in melee. After that, GW added the above rule to clarify it for all factions/models. What that means in stats! Ok, some tt rules. A model has a listed number of melee attacks (for most basic units, that number is 1). If a character has either two CCW, or a CCW and a pistol, it may make a second melee attack. So an SM tactical and an SM assault have the same stats (including number of melee attacks), but the tactical has a boltgun and a bolt pistol, while the assault has a CCW (listed as chainsword) and a bolt pistol. This means even though they have the same stats, the assault has twice the number of attacks. Even though a unit counts as using a CCW in melee even if it's not listed, he can't benefit from the extra attack rule unless it is listed. What that means in EC! So yes, every unit is implied to have a CCW, and yes, chainswords are CCW. But they aren't the same thing. A tactical, even though he has the same stats and is implied to carry the same strength of weapon, is not the equal of an assault in melee. In a similar vein, the dire avenger is implied to carry a CCW, but that doesn't mean he's the equal of a unit that is listed with a CCW. The DA exarch on the other hand, is given the option to take a power weapon/diresword with pistol/shimmershield. He has a listed melee weapon, and if he takes the pistol (not the shield) he gains that extra attack. I detailed why in another post (page 4 of this thread actually, and it's even longer than this one). So no, dire avengers shouldn't have a chainsword, because he's not the equal of an actual melee character. But a DA exarch can jump straight to power weapons. So the devs are doing it right. Go devs! My own personal thought. Given the rules for CCW/extra attacks, I think the knife for tacticals/avengers is a pretty cool abstraction of the concept. Yes the knife can make kills just like a chainsword, but at a disadvantage.
I got some new facts for you. Durring to my researches I found that to take down one assault marine it takes 40 bullets in body => 4 seconds of unstopable fire. That means that this weapon is nearly useless against any moveng targets and facing the fact that it's spread is something insane I has concluded that this IS TOTAL BULSHEET. P.S. Dire avengers supposed to be hight mobile infantry but now you must croach to even start landing bullets into target. Great job in the development!
Eagerly awaiting the day the Avenger Shuriken Catapult gets its incoming buff. I was very excited to get confirmation from Brent that Dire Avengers will be able to use power mauls and power axes! Can't wait to see the art design on those for the Eldar.
Yeah, after patch 19 hit live the DA is a hard class to use. I am not sure if it's all of the health/armor wargear or what, but I am having a hard time winning firefights at any range. My average kill count went from 10-20 a match to 1-3. I am scoring hits, just not killing. I never really had a problem with it until 19 though. It does not help that my DA advancement tree is broken. Of course it had to be the DA tree, since I play little else. On the plus side, spending less time playing allows me to get some other things done I have been neglecting. I need my twin-linked Avenger bE...
Do you mean you can't unlock +1 stamina and anything beyond? Because I have that same problem. When the founder's updated recently the problem was fixed, so I'm hoping that happens with live at some point. And I am also excited for twin-linked avenger shuriken catapult (TLASC?), but between the two of us, do you think it looks a tad silly with that top magazine?
