You are better off with a chain/basic chopper or power klaw and a dakka slugger. Shield is okay, but Ork pistols are quite awesome this patch. I consider the slugga a shoota with more melee capacity. If you play with this mentality you are going to wreck most other players. Basically use the pistol ~40%-60% of the time during your engagements. I have on several maps won the assassins medal playing exclusively slugga(roughly 20-30 kills). The animation gods forsake anything that is a middle weight weapon.
Maybe they will get regen later on as part of the progression. Plus sometimes details can be missed and only 40k "nerds" remember them
It is an example of a game mechanic trumping common sense, imaging a tech marine running over to you and stripping out the damaged armor plate and fitting a new one is the only suggestion I have for you (would be neat if they made animation of that)
