@matt23 | Still feeling haunted by the death of his primarch, a mostly numb sensation gripping him, Viserys glared at the Custodians, anger working its way into his voice. "We have fought and bled to keep the Palace safe from the traitors! We fought a monster in this very hallway, where you should have been! Do not accuse us of betrayal because of your incompetence!"
"Let's all just take a deep breath and calm down," Diabel spoke with such coolness it surprised even him. He rose up on his feet as the Guardian Spear closed on his throat but if he was afraid he wasn't showing it. In fact, he looked the Custodian straight in his eyes, the realization of what he had just done finally dawning on him and making him more cocky than it should. "Our scout squad alongside the Captain Tathament and the elements of the First stood and guarded this door from the daemons of the Warp. One of more powerful servants of Slaanesh arrived and tried to push its way past us, so I decided to take matters in my own hand and attempt to banish it before my brothers die. I went back into Palace and searched for some sort of a holy weapon and the spear responded to me as I passed it. I heard it humming and I simply knew it was destined to be used to banish the great fiend. So I said my prayers, went back into battle and unleashed it upon the daemon." "Yes, I had no idea what would happen but me dying to save the others was completely fine in my book so I did it. Thankfully, like you said, I lost only my arm, the Emperor obviously thinking that was enough of a sacrifice. I was stunned by the power and I was just in the process of getting back up and returning the spear where I found it when you barged in. Now you call me a thief when in truth, I only borrowed the weapon. I had no intention of keeping it, so there is no need to shout and throw threats, we are all on the same side here." "That is what happened and by my honor, it is true. If you don't find that explanation sufficient, then kill me. If you do trust me, please move away that spear from my neck. Just don't waste our time any longer, there are more traitors to kill and we aren't getting any younger."
The only thing keeping Savarel from turning his bolter on the lot of the Custodes threatening his brother was the fact that he could still grasp the gravity of merely thinking that and acknowledging that was a fight he wouldn't win. Still he was uncertain which of those reasons rang stronger with his head right now, perhaps if he were a stronger man he might of gone for it, such consideration was exactly why he was keeping quiet; Sergeant feeling it best to let those who had traditionally cooler minds speak right now as they seemed to be doing a damn fine job of saying everything he would and without the growling.
@matt23 Zuriel stood beside Viserys, a scowl on his face. "We are ever the Emperors faithful. Have the Blood Angels not given everything to defend Him and his Imperium. Our blood. Our brothers. OUR FATHER!" He his voice rang out, letting there be an uncomfortable silence in the air. "We will always be faithful, so if you find us guilty, then execute us all." He knelt down and presented his neck to the Custodes. "I'll give my life to the Emperor in whatever capacity.
"Don't kneel to them, maintain your dignity. " Savarel promptly reached down to grab Zuriel by the back of his collar and force him back up. A grave amount of disappointment welling up in his voice. Looking to the Custodes he decided to speak after all before any more of their squad started looking desperate. Forcing a great deal more calm into his voice than he felt the Sergeant addressed them. "Custodes, Diabel has already paid for this perceived crime with an arm. I will not ask we waste anymore of either parties time as there are still quite a few traitors left on Terra that need dealt with, more importantly the palace must be secured for the return of the Emperor and those legion Fathers that came with. Let us part now, if you would wish to pursue some semblance of justice after things have been mopped up so be it, but do not tack on the treachery of aiding our enemies escape over the matter of a single one of your spears being swiped from the armory. Before you try to belittle any impact we might have on the effort bear in mind we've already slain a traitor Captain and then banished some abomination, daemon or xenos, whatever you wish to call it, and I'm painfully eager to see what we can do when our enemy isn't fighting back. Again if you must satisfy some code of law by executing Diabel, don't deny my brother a small measure of justice in turn by keeping him from playing some part in avenging Sanguinius."
@DeranVendar @Colapse @Keidivh @Avenging-Angel @TechCaptain @Jolojose The Guard looked at Viserys, "You dare raise your voice, scout! Do you not know of which office you address?" He then looked to the other scouts, "A servant of a false god? I see no proof of such claims. So do not hide behind an enemy that does not exist, nor should any of you have any say in the fate that awaits you. By order of the Adeptus Custodes and the authority that comes with that Office, I hereby place everyone of you under arrest. You shall be locked away where you will await a trial by the authority deemed correct." Just as the rest of the Guards began to move, the doors from behind the group opened, slamming against the wall. From behind the door was revealed a large figure adorn in golden armor with white wings that extended out from behind him. His arm extended and his fingered pointed directly at the Guard, "You will execute no such order, Darius." The golden, winged figure then began to walk down the stairs towards the scouts, "You excuse these scouts of piety thievery, and for what? Nothing! You are scared and you lash out like a child against those who helped defend this Palace. That is your duty, is it not? So if anything, you have failed in your duties." The figure then walked through the scouts and directly into the Guards face, "I shall be leaving with these scouts, the Terminators, and that Captain. You should find better ways to spend your time, like dealing with the traitors who still remain." The figure then walked past the Guard, looking over his shoulder to the scouts, "Let us go. There is still work to be done." As the figure walked past Tathamet, the captain bowed his head before following him out. The guard turned and watched them leave, with all the contempt and hatred he possessed. After the squad left the Palace they would see the golden figure standing down a short flight of stairs. Next to him was Captain Tathamet and the Terminators of the First Company. Once they were close they would hear the end of a sentence the figure said to Tathamet, "...And you are sure of what he did." The Captain then responded while the Terminators nodded in agreement, "I am sure of it, Azkaellon." The figure then looked at the scouts add waited for them all to gather. Once they had he looked at the Sergeant, "Well Sergeant Savarel, I have heard what the Captain and the Adeptus Custodes have had to say about you, but now I wish to hear what they ranking officer has to report about what transpired within the Palace. And leave no details out, sergeant."
Taking a final liberty in their victory, which Savarel took some petty pride in unable to resist hearing the venerated commander of the Sanguinary Guard chew out a Custodian, the scout looked over to their charge in Ulcicsor and beckoned the entombed hero to accompany them as well. He would of felt remiss to abandon him with the Custodes right now, granted it wouldn't of even come to mind mere minutes ago when he was intent on just getting everyone moving. As they walked and were promptly separated from the superiors during their brief conversation Savarel spoke to his squad. "Never take a knee before those whom would heap dishonor on you when it is undeserved. Only let them have your pride when you know you've done wrong, but never let them take it, either give it, or keep it. " Speaking to no one in particular it was meant for any who would hear it. Seeing Azkaellon approach Sergeant felt a dim awareness of whom he was about to speak with and promptly bowed his head, no fear though, not after seeing this siege through. Nothing could do to him what Signus Prime, the Siege and the Loss had already done. Standing promptly at attention report was delivered in short order. "We arrived at the Palace gates shortly after executing Captain Malek of the Emperor's Children, having received the call for reinforcements immediately after. Rendezvousing at the peak of a lift with a number of Salamanders we picked up our former charge Leviathan Ulcicsor and received a brief bit of medical attention. " Savarel was starting to feel the gaping soreness where a lung had once been, so much had been going on and the third one compensated well enough on top of Shen's mending. "Once inside we met with Captain Tathamet and the First where we proceeded to dig in and wait. Peace didn't last long as the now possessed carcass of Captain Malek assaulted our position. The fiend was strong enough to hurl our brother Salamander through the air, throughout the fight it claimed three of our Terminator armored brothers and scout Kirell whom was crushed by crumbling masonry, though the fallen wall that slew him also revealed scout Jozai to us and allowed him to reinforce. After several minutes of back and forth with this beast Diabel broke away and had run off down the halls asking only that I trust him, unawares as to his motives but doing just as he asked we continued the fight. Not long after he returned brandishing a Custodes spear taken from their Armory and proceeded to obliterate the Host with a glorious blast of power that nearly blinded us and took from him his arm. Captain Tathamet promptly bound the weapon then we received news of what had transpired above. We were rallying to go and take out our pain upon the traitors when the one you called Darius arrived and began his arrest. "
Zuriel was unfazed by Savarels rebuke. The Custodes were the Emperors will, and he would follow their orders to the letter. He would never deny the will of the Emperor. However when he saw the golden winged warrior come through the doors these thoughts left him as he bowed deeply, making the sign of the Aquila. "Exalted Herald." He said simply to him, not knowing what else to say to one of Sanguinius' greatest sons. Since he wasn't addressed, he didn't interrupt their conversation, instead checking up on Diabel. @Colapse "Well fought brother, kiccked that demons ass so badly your own body couldn't handle it." He teased with a light smile, knowing he would pull through the wound.
OOC: Be sure to look at OOC Thread for Chapter information and colors! @DeranVendar @Colapse @Avenging-Angel @TechCaptain @Keidivh @Jolojose 1. Ulsicsor came lumbering down the stairs after Savarel had finished the report and spoke, "It is as he sa..." Azkaellon raised his hand to the Ancient and spoke, "With all do respect, honored brother, this is a matter of the Nineth Legion." Azkaellon then looked back to Savarel and the rest of his squad with a nod, "You have done our Legion, Father, Emperor, and the Imperium a great service then, young scouts. One that shall not soon be forgotten. To slay an enemy, such as the one you did, has seen far more experienced men fail or falter. Take pride in your squad, Sergeant Savarel, for the honor they have one today is one that many have died trying to achieve." Though his words were nice, one could tell that in his voice was still a deep, deep sorrow. After a deep breath to regain his train of though, Azkaellon turned to the Captain, "Who is it they belong to, Captain?" Tathamet looked at Savarel and his squad a moment and answered, "Our fallen brother, Captain Fercious of the twenty-sixth company." Azkaellon looked to the squad with sorrow once more and walked over to Savarel, placing a hand on his shoulder, "I am sorry, brother Savarel, but as with my brothers, the twenty-sixth company is no more." He then removed his hand from his shoulder and stepped back from the Sergeant, straightening up his posture, "It is with heavy hearts and burdened minds that we find ourselves taking notice of the honor you and your squad have gain, Sergeant Savarel. In consideration of the actions that you and your squad have done, all of you shall now be transferred to Captain Tathamet and the seventh company, effective immediately." Azkaellon then turned to the Captain, "They are yours now, Captain. I should seem them honored accordingly. Also, after what they have just faced and been through, I should see them and yourself taken to the Convenant of Baal to recover. You all have done your part, now let the rest of us find the glory each of you had. Ulsicsor will be taken back to regroup with the remnants of his Legion." After speaking Tathamet bowed before him and Azkaellon turned from the squad and walked off. After a moment of silence as the Captain watch the last of the Sanguinary Guard walk off, he turned to the squad, "Prepare you squad for pick-up, the Thunderhawk is already in bound." The Captain turned to the Terminators and began to discuss various things in the meantime. It was a moment to reflect on everything that had just happen, to take in the true gravity of what had just taken place. Nothing would ever be the same and what would happen next was vastly unknown. For now, they had each other and that counted for far more than they knew. ---------------------------------------------------------- 2. Time Jump It had been seven years since the Battle of Terra had taken place, but the wounds were still fresh. By order of Raldoron, once Captain of the First company now leader of the Legion, the Blood Angels had returned to Baal to recover from the losses on both Signus Prime and Terra. However, this was not the only losses that affected the Ninth Legion. With the new flaws known as the Black Rage and Red Thirst now revealing themselves, there was much time being spend trying to understand what was causing them and possible ways to prevent them. Saravel, Diabel, Haimon, Viserys, and Zuriel were no longer scouts within the ranks of the Blood Angels, but instead, full-fledged Angels of Death. Jozai, however; was still seen as far to young and inexperienced to ascend to the next rank just yet. Under Sergeant Savarel's watchful eye and strict training, Jozai had begun his work in the right direction. Uriel had recovered from his injuries, but was sent to another squad to help fill in the ranks within the 7th Company. Kirell, who some had believed died, was found among the rubble of the Palace still breathing and like Uriel, was sent to another squad of the company once he recovered from his wounds. Diabel was accepted into the ranks of the Librarius under the teaching of Epistolary Zaphen. His rank was Lexicanium, but none the less was he still a Librarian now. Thought he was given no hood, he was given the tradition blue armor that came with his position. Along with the now blue armor Zaphen, upon his induction into the ranks of the Librarius, gave him a Force Sword to help channel and focus his powers. Zuriel had been looked upon with favor within the halls of Baal. He had undertaken the task of becoming a Blood Angels' Apothecary. Though it took him some years to complete, he finally achieved his goal. Zuriel was given the title Sanguinary Priest, one that was not taken lightly. His job did not just include tending to the wounds of the squad, but also looking for signs of the Thirst and tending to spiritual needs. Upon receiving his new title, he was given a tool unique to his position, the Narthecium. Haimon's technological interest was taken notice of very quickly within the halls of the Forge on Baal as he could very often be found their attempting to fix things or improve them. And so, Haimon was sent to Mars to train under the followers of the Omnissiah. Due to recent events and the need to fill the ranks of the dead Tech Marines, his training was not the full 30 years that was usual on Mars. Upon his completion of training, he received his servo-harness that had a single servo-arm attached to it. Viserys sought no special training like some of the others, but his deeds had been noticed over the years. Captain Tathamet called Viserys to the Forge one day, and had a few servitors at his side. Tathamet noted that Viserys had not ran away in the face of a Daemon, but instead ran directly at it. With such courage in the face of terror, the servitors placed a harness on Viserys and then attached a Jump Pack to it. It was given the honor of being known as an Assault Marine. Savarel, unlike all the others, received no items or training, but instead something that came with more honor. Savarel and his squad were called into the main hall of the Fortress Monastery on Baal. There they were met by Captain Tathamet, Raldoron, and Azkaellon. Savarel was called forth before the three and with great honor was given the Honour Badge the Iron Skull on the center forehead of his Helmet. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- 3. 021.M31 It was not to long after 021.M31 that word had spread of change. Something called the Codex Astartes had been made by Roboute Guilliman, Primarch of the Ultramarines. No one really new what change was to come with it, but with all that had happen in the recent years, one could assume it was to be drastic. And so, one fateful day, Savarel was ordered to gather his squad and bring them to a the Battle Barge known as The Cleansing Spear. Once on the ship they gathered, with many seemingly random Blood Angels with the Hanger Bay. There was much talk of what was to come and if it had to do with the Codex Astartes. After a few hours of waiting an Astarte adorn in pure crimson armor enter the room, walked up a ramp, and stood on an elevated platform. On his back huge a black cloak and from his waste huge a black cloth that went to just above the ground. To his right were 10 Astartes in pure black armor, that had a black cloak on their back and a black cloth that hung between their legs. One of the Astarte carried a banner that had three chalices, a set of wings around them, and a red drop of blood upon the three chalices. To the crimson Astarte's left was the same picture, 10 black astartes, one of whom carried a similar banner. The crimson astarte spoke out in a voice that could be heard across the entire hanger, "Brothers, I understand you all maybe confused and unsure as to why you are here. You have heard rumors of great changes coming with a book called the Codex Astartes made by the Father of the Ultramarines. I say to you now, you have nothing to fear. Raldoron and Azkaellon have ordered all within the Ninth Legion to comply with this new book, and so the Legion will be no more. They fear that the numbers a Legion contain are far to great a risk to allow any longer. The Legion will be now broken up into, what are now called, Chapters that shall number no longer than one thousand Astartes. One hundred in each company. This is why you are all here. I have selected many of you personally and the rest of your were chosen for me, to form a new chapter." Voices began to rise as some seemed to object at the idea. "Calm yourselves, brothers. I know you believe this goes against brotherhood, but look around you. Your brothers stand to your left and right. Each of you shall join me in hunting the Arch enemies of man, for that is our purpose. To hunt down the daemons of the warp and the traitor legions that have betrayed our Emperor and killed our Father! You will always be sons of Sanguinius, but now we are the ones who carry the fight to the ones who took his life! We shall face the fires of the warp without fear! The enemies of man shall know our name and fear the mention of it! We shall be known as the Sanguine Templars, for we shall be the crusaders against chaos! And by our blood, His Will shall be done!" he yelled with pride as he drew his power sword. When he got to the last sentence, the 20 black astartes said it with him. "I, Grand Master Tathamet, will lead you to the vengeance you seek, brothers! Together we shall reap death upon the ranks of traitors and chaos where they show their faces!" The Blood Angels within the room began to become restless at the mention of traitors and chaos. It was clear the chance to deliver a life's worth of vengeance was all to appealing to each one of them. Tathamet's voice seemed to calm slightly as he spoke once more, "Each of you will be assigned to company captains, now know as Knight Commanders. They shall come and find each of you once you receive your new chapter symbols and colors upon your armor. Most of you were brought here in squads, and I will not break apart those of you who are. So with that, all current squad Sergeants, shall remain as such. Now Sergeants, take your squads to the Forge and lead them in receiving their new colors and symbols. Once you have finished their take your squad somewhere to reflect upon what you have just become a part of, for I will not have weak-minded individuals or those who do not wish to be here, here. Now, go. You have your standing orders." With that Tathamet and his black Astartes left the room from where they came. ----------------------------------------------------------------- 4. The Forge There were lines of Blood Angels receiving their new colors and symbols from an army of servitors. It was a strange and somewhat angering action to have the old colors and symbols of the IX Legion covered up with their new colors and symbols but it was necessary for changed. And so, like all the other Blood Angels, the squad's armor was painted the colors of their new chapter and the new chapter symbol was bestowed on their shoulders. After it was done, it was up to Savarel to decide where they would go to discuss such a matter. There really was no specifications given where to do so, only that their new Knight Commander would find them. OOC: Each paragraph is numbered to allow each of you to separate your paragraphs and to address each section easily without confusion.
Terra - Savarel felt a conflicting mix of emotions as their judgement played out. There was an undeniable level of pride for his brothers, justly earned for their deeds this day. Yet the fact they had finally managed to break from the palace only to be denied their vengeance again left a bitter simmering core in his chest. At least it would keep away the sorrow for a bit longer... "Your praise honors both myself and my brothers. " Cutting it off there for a lack of anything coming to mind he looked off to the horizon, watching their chariot approach. Its form as battered as any of those it had carried, armor scraped grey and torn from a hundred some blows. As the jets began to whine down for its landing a few tears at last broke the threshold of Savarel's lower lid. They had won, but at such a mightily awful cost. Time Skip- @Jolojose "DODGE!" The order was given toward the younger scout, the only scout, in their squad. Savarel came roaring up toward the younger Astartes with a chainsword screaming in hand. Through the aid of his power armor already mighty strides seemed to appear titanic and the power behind coming swing would be a terrifying prospect even when one considered Savarel was a mediocre, by legionnaire standards, melee combatant. Taking weapon in both hands Sergeant made for a slash that would split Jozai from skull to groin had he intended to, instead making it so if his brother failed to avoid the blow a deep gash would be left instead. It was a time of learning for them both as Savarel did his part to induct Jozai into sixth squad and its brotherhood while simultaneously learning the ins and outs of power armored combat. One chainsword had already been lost to unexpected gripping strength ruining former scout sized edition. The order of today was anti-legion tactics. Pair playing catch up on Savarel's command since at the current time their duties were mixed and had thrown his closest brothers in arms to many different parts of the ship and even across separate planets. Here and now marine played the part of a World Eater, all savage strikes, minimal defense and plenty of screaming. It was an effective act aided greatly by his newest tattoo: A blood red skull placed upon his brow, exactly where the iron skull now sat on his helmet. Inked with a mixture of blood from their entire squad Savarel carried it as a mark of brotherhood as much as honor, were it not for the fact it also acted as rank marking he might of requested they all wear it somewhere. "When a son of Angron rears his misshapen skull you face everything our Father was not. It is likening a feral mongrel to a knight of old. You will make such a comparison that much clearer, meet their barbarism with nobility. Their madness and depravity with honor. Show them that their wild strength will be nothing before your own. Teach them what true fury is, dig into that well of bloodlust within, wield the memory of our Father Sanguinius. " Savarel demonstrated his own ability to do such as regardless of how blow fell, claiming blood or air, it would carry on and dig a groove into sparring cages floor before toothed weapon was up again for a diagonal slice crossing from lower left to upper right. 021.M31 - Savarel looked across the arranged rows of Adeptus Astartes and for several moments considered what a bunch of oddballs their grouping must look like. A Lexicanum, Sanguinary Priest, Techmarine, Assault Marine, Scout and then himself; a Line Sergeant. Unorthodox to say the least, no matter though, part of him worried there would be some fashion of break up soon enough leaving the other parts to hope, indeed at times pray, they were just forming the heart of some new experimental squad make up. It was one of very few things left that felt capable of breaking him. Personal reactions to the news of the break up weren't very strong on the Sergeant's part, instead feeling some disconnect with former legion name after Sanguinius' death. What did it mean to be a Blood Angel when the Angel was dead? Any reservations Savarel had were quickly put aside as Tathamet worked the crowd of mighty warriors with plenty of rhetoric about hunting traders. It was downright delightful in his mind and if this breakdown of organization meant they never wasted time on a xenos again and instead spent their lives punishing the traitors then he could sign himself up as overjoyed. Forge- Finally things wound down when they reached the forge, Savarel visibly admiring the new paint job that was layered over previously crimson armored. These colors appealed to him and when he at last faced the others it was with a smile. "To the training cages brothers. Combat frees the thought and tempers the mind, we'll discuss things there. "
