Just wanted to know, since i see quite a few higher ups are posting around the threads (quite refreshing). How will you handle Nurgle and his many gifts. Will it be clearly visible that we have chosen to go the path of Nurgle (bloated bodies, zounds of sores and pustules and lets not forget flies and stink clouds). It would no doubt really feel like we are playing a servant of Nurgle. OH! And perhaps we might get a different walking animation (dragging along more that walking) and become a tad bit slower (which i guess will most likely be our drawback for balance sake).
Miguel mentioned in an early interview that they were shooting for an "M' rated game (please correct me if I'm wrong) I would think this means that the grimness is indeed, dark in this game. It would be unfortunate if the game was 'dumbed down' and made more child friendly for a 'wider audience'. This tactic never worked, I think - they'll play anyway. I don't even need to point any fingers towards examples.
Based on what they wish to do on the field of customization, probably it will be gory and you will have plenty of choices. Though, I think the adornments will be only eye candy most likely, without any negative or positive effects. Then, who knows what will happen in the next two years...
nurgle isnt a "mean" god of chaos. just a happy pudgy.....rotting guy. Why hes dubed "grandfather" nurgle. And THIS is by FAR my favorite depiction of nurgle happy yet f***king disturbing on ALL levels.
I do believe everything ive stated is basically eye (spoiled) candy. I want the foes to feel like they are fighting the chosen of Nurgle. Like fighting some scary junk in a horror game. The rating they are going for will add to this so much. Just imagine the enemies going through some facility as they hear faint buzzing of flies (imo this is a must have, many games have audios for their passive skills), and as the door opens a rotten horror waggles in the room trailing bile and guts and locks eyes with you. Even if its just a game im more than sure it will, with combined durability Nurgleites share be a very intimidating and scary experience for foes to face.
While i'm all for gritty gore-pasted hulking corpselike horrors shambling towards you with a bolter in hand, there is the limiter that is gameplay. Now surely this can be fixed to some extent with performance options. But just imagine if you're in a massive battle and all of a sudden a warband of Nurgle-leaning marines stumbles around a corner. Particle effects and details blowing you away. We'll most likely be getting some very iconic looks for the nurgle-affiliated marines, but with gameplay at heart - It's easy to see why that might want to tone some of the things down.
