its just a combat thing, if combat ends then I guess we can assume that those who are still conscious got them out of it through repeating power armored slapping.
It still made sense to me :3 And you are right it stopped because the sorcerers died and with them dead the warp rift closed - through which the voices came. So no rift = no voices. No voices = no nightmare. No nightmare = no stun :3
