We already know the basic layout, unless we're looking for the armory for some dank loot & possible rare weapons, but otherwise we might as well avoid danger before we engage the Lieutenant which will be, as usual, gruesome.
If we have the facility's layout won't that mean we'll know where the traps are and how to bypass them? And knowing the fastest route to Lieutenant means less time for him to use the self-destruct.
